Thanks Melanie,
I read where Burrascano even mentioned that zith through an IV, and whamo ! Can cause big time herx !
My son was doing better on rocephin [finally], but now that we've started mepron, he feels like garbage again. Lots of leg pain, fatigue, chills, sweats. So, it looks like he's herxing on the mepron already.
I can just imagine what kind of herxing he'll do when the zith hits !
The kid will be able to take aerial photographs of earth from the orbiting he'll be doing ! Thanks for the heads-up.

Goodness, I hate to hear how he is suffering already.
Just please be very cautious...stay in contact with your doc...and remember to back off if necessary, OK?
I was in a VERY BAD place for awhile...just trying to tuff it out. This is NOT necessary for healing.
But, I have confidence in your loving care...so, I am sure he will be monitored closely.

Hi IV zith was my first rx of treatment. I did 500mg /day thru my port.
Yes, huge herxing! Two trips to the ER for me then a 3 day break and then we cut back to 6 days on one day off. That worked well to keep the die off managable.
I made some wonderful improvement with the zith... got back proprioception, walk into walls much less. big decrease in pain memory improvement
Now I'm herxing my way through the wonders of clindamycin.
I hope your son does well, make sure your LLMD is ok with a break if the herx gets intense. The ER wasn't fun!

I did IV Zithromax for two months after four months of IV Rocephin. It helped me but not nearly as much as the Rocephin. I did it through a PICC, too. It was a longer infusion than the Rocephin (about an hour versus 20 minutes for Rocephin) and it would make me nauseous if I ran it too fast, and sometimes even if I ran it slowly. But it was a good drug, especially with Mepron.
