Hi,

I'm sure that this is a touchy subject as I would never want to give Lyme to anyone- even a mouse BUT

has anyone had testing where their blood sample is grown in a host and then tissue samples tested?

Perhaps there is not enough concentration of bacteria for this to work?

I'm sure that this is expensive-

BUT I am FED UP with not knowing exactly what I have!!

It seems to me that one of the real horrors of Lyme is that so many people are treated incorrectly for so long while the bacteria gets a stronger hold in a weakened immune system-

If time is the essence in treatment then why don't we use more extreme methods in testing?

Thanks for your thoughts-

and apologies to any that are offended by the thought of sacrifricing lab rats-

Sarah

They already sacrifice mice, sheep and rabbits - That is where many labs get the Borellia Burgdorferi antibodies that they use to test against human blood I believe.

They would have to have an accurate test to test the mouse before your blood is injected into it and that is hard to do and thus we are back to the great debate...how do you culture the lyme bacteria accurately anywhere.

You pose a very interesting idea though Keep thinking - Like you I feel like there just has to be a way

Isolation of Babesia by inoculation of the patient's blood into hamsters or gerbils may also assist in diagnosis. Animals inoculated with infective blood typically develop parasitemia (parasites circulating in their bloodstream) within 1 to 4 weeks.

This is a terrible story, but my daughters old mouse, Whitey (her old mice were Whitey and Blackie, then came Brownie, Greyie and Harry Potter) BIT me when I still had Babesiosis and he bit through the flesh of my finger and had blood on his nasty little teeth (he was the nastiest little mouse!!!) and then he got sick and died within a month. I have always wondered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In tests mice do not do well with Babs-
