Is Lyme ever misdiagnosed as Guillain Barre Syndrome? I don't know anything about GBS, but there's a little girl who the ducks say have GBS, and I'm wondering if it could really be Lyme.

Personally, I think it's a very real possibility. It's mainly my gut feeling. I can't remember whether I've read info on a connection or not. Have you researched it??
I'm haunted [and have been since my own Lyme diagnosis] by the Guillain Barre dx of a close friend of my father-in-law's. His life was destroyed by this illness. He nearly died and is still quite disabled.
You know how they say it often "follows the flu"? Well, what if that "flu" was actually Lyme?

There was a girl in eurolyme who wss given this diagnosis - supposedly caused by a mystery 'virus'...she got private tests done and it was Lyme.

I am living proof that Lyme is often mis-diagnosed as Guillian-Barre. That has been my diagnosis for over 2 yrs. now. I have felt I had Lyme for quite some time - with 2 negative tests. Heard of the test that Bowen Research is doing, had it, and now have pictures of the culprit. Have just started treatment with a wonderful LLMD. I feel like a fool for not being more assertive in researching and getting to the bottom of this sooner. I had the classic symptoms of Guillian-Barre, except I had a low-grade fever. Fever is not associated with Guillian-Barre.

Wow, I was just talking about my GBS symptoms, wondering if my paralysis/motor troubles are caused by mino/rifampin herx. What abx are you on Rose? (if you don't mind me asking)

Hi Ltoo, I'm going to blame this one on lymebrain. I had done a search and lost track. Yes my more severe/pronounced sx started when I got on the right abx...before that I had only a limp on the right leg. I've been on this bart combo 6 months.I want to get walking again.
