What I don't understand is why providers or mine in particular will pay for every other doctor but LLMD...They are out of network...I have checked every doctor who specializes in Lyme disease and this is the case...GRRR

Allskate,

Don't feel bad........... If you actually find a Dr that is an LLMD and takes your insurance you probably won't get the aggressive care you need.

For me this was the case. I wasn't going to be treated for coinfections. So far positive for babs.

I finally coffed up the money and went to a cash LLMD who doesn't have his hands tied while jumping thru hoops for the insurance companies. He is worth every cent.

Spend the money you think you don't have before you get tooo sick.

Even though my insurance doesn't cover DR. S I still submit the bills. I'm keeping a record of everything. Just throw it all into a box or folder.

The insurance still pays for the meds which is alot of money. Even the rx prescribed by my out of network LLMD.

All the best,
Heather

Even if the doctor (LLMD) is out of network the insurance should still pay a percentage (something like 60 or 70 percent of allowable charges not actual charges) but you may have to mail in the bill with the required additional paperwork yourself -- your insurance company probably has a special form you have to submit for this kind of claim.

My husband hassled the insurance company so much that they gave him his own claim representative to call when he has questions. He calls about any new doctors and test procedure codes before we make the appointment or get the test done so we know in advance what things will cost.
