Hello all, I went out of town and when I returned I couldn't get on. I hope you all are well. I went to the LLMD today and after 3 months of zith and mepron I will be switching to Ketek 400 mg. 2 at bedtime and augmentin XR? 2 A day.after 2 weeks add flagyl 2 x a day Take week 4 off then repeat. I am still working full time and as usual need some advice from all of you veterns of all things lyme. I have done well on Biaxin, zith and mepron the only 2 things I have had trouble with have been minocycline and clidmycin. Any advice that might help me with the side effects greatly appreciated. Have had a bad herx for 2 weeks including one of the very scary encephalitis headaches so I will be taking a week off before beginning this new combo. Thanks as always oh yeah I am almost 200 lbs now and if anyone has a magic way to lose even 5 lbs I would love to try it. Almost forgot I have a script for diflucan now too to try. Thank you all for your help.

Don't eat anything with sugar or flour or yeast. aka: "The low carb diet"

I still eat complex carbs like wheat rice.

Started last week and have lost 2 pounds already.

Good Luck,

I have no experience with your new meds....sorry.

[except flagyl...just hang onto your hat!!]

Yes, the yeast-free diet will cause VERY good weight loss. Follow it very closely at least 3 wks. That's when you'll get over the sugar/carb cravings and it will be easier after that!!

Like Heather, I'm on a very low carb diet -- no sugar, a lot of protein, whole grains only. I have been since June.

So far, I've lost 15 pounds (2 sizes). I've also lost my appetite.

BUT, if you do find that ice cream diet, you let me know, will you? [Wink]

800 mgs of Ketek gave me a headache from h***. Had to back off. Even so, headache lasted 2 weeks. Working up slowly.

Follow Dr. B's guidelines posted on LDA to your left. I lost 25 pounds pretty quickly.

Thanks for the responses. I will research the ice cream diet but in the meantime I will begin the diet from hell for me that all of you do very well no sugar, carbs etc. Problem is I don't eat much meat so I have tried this before but you know the kid that would rather eat desert and skip dinner [Big Grin] well that's my pic in the dictionary under sugar. I will look up Cr. B's guidelines. Oh my Goodness tjtighe really I can't do that and work the headaches are my most feared symptom since this all began just spent 3 days in the bed [Frown] Thanks for the heads up is that what you meant tu tu ?
I hope all of you have a great day gotta go to work.

Hi Mimi,

Read Dr. William G. Crook, M.D.'s book, "The Yeast Connection". It has been one of the most influencing books of my treatment.

I keep finding them at thrift stores and handing them out to fellow lymies.

I have shed 40 pounds in a year. I don't feel like I had to work at it very hard.

Blessings

For me, flagyl was the roughest drug.

Someone here had a recipe for a sugar-free ice cream. That was a few yrs ago, and I don't remember who it was. [shake]

Once you get rid of that craving for bad stuff, your appetite will go way down. I felt LIBERATED by this diet!

Lymetoo, thanks for the reply I will be ok on the diet as soon as my housekeeper, and chef arrive. Just kidding I will be ok just have to get my mind set. I am so miserable now it will be worth it if it helps. I'm glad you replied I wanted to ask you about your experiences with diflucan tablets and side effects. I really can't afford not to work. I only have myself to rely on financially so I have to be careful about meds. If I am out of work much I will not have a job. So, I have a rx for diflucan I want to try any advice? [bow]

Some have found that ketek at bedtime interferes with sleep and is better taken in the am.

If it were me I would not start all the meds at once but would slowly work up to full dosing.

I'm of the mind that big herxes are not productive.

Thanks Janet with my severe brain swelling headaches I'm not a big fan of herxes either. I was told to take 2 at bedtime but I will start slowly and switch to am if it bothers my sleeping I'm so exhausted all of the time I will go crazy if I can'r sleep it's my only refuge. Thank you so much I needed to hear from someone who has tried it. Thanks
Take care,
mimi [hi]

For your ice cream diet, you might want to try Edy's chocolate dibs. Boy are they good!
