Has anyone else had a problem with conjunctivitis(pink eye)? About 4 months ago before being diagnosed with lyme, out of the blue I had conjunctivitis in my right eye. It was treated and things were OK.

I have been on abx for about 8 weeks and this morning woke up with conjunctivitis again. No one else in the family or at work has it. I think I might be having a herx. I have been more achy and irritable for the past 3 days.

One of my symptoms over the past several months was feeling like my right eye was strained and my left eye would occasionally start to sting just for a moment.

Do you think the conjunctivitis is from the lyme bacteria?

my first overt symptom of lyme after a bite in the late summer of 1999 was strange bouts of conjunctivitus; that fall I began to wake up in the morning with my eyes glued shut and sore and burning, that went on for awhile over the next year if I was under stress, did not know I had lyme at the time
IMO, this is a lyme symptom

Whoa.......

I had conjunctivitis several times. The part that's making me go "whoa" is this all happened when I was between the ages of 8 to 12 years old. I had it like 6 times in a 3 year period.

Been wondering lately how long I've had Lyme and if it's possible to have had it my whole life. Whoa.

Conjunctivitis was one of my first symptoms after the bite and remained chronic for the duration.

Of note, my son (congenital lyme) was born with conjunctivitis and we had to put cotton balls soaked in water over his eyes several times per day. His remained chronic as well.

Good luck!

I would say yes, also. Before I had any idea that I might have LD, I had pink eyes on several occasions and wondered what was causing it. I thought maybe it was just the heat or air quality at the moment.

Now I'm having difficulty wearing my contacts, too.

Iritis, inflammation of the iris, is a symptom of Reiter's syndrome. Reiter's Syndrome is a reactive arthritis caused by infection. It is most commonly known to be caused from chlamydia, but that is NOT the only cause. Salmonella can also cause Reiter's.
