I have started on biaxin 500mg and I have been getting alot of heart palpitations. Also some shots of pain in the mid-back area. Is this a herx or a reaction to the biaxin? Trying to decide whether to continue the biaxin or not.

could be a herx or it could be yeast rearing it's ugly head.

Do you smell like bread?

I have these too and they are worse on zithromax but so is the yeast. I had them very bad a while ago and it seemed to be caused by a bad yeast infection. Had a lot of other vein stuff going on too from the yeast.

I'm taking a beta blocker as needed now and it's helping. It doen't stop the irregular beats but it slows the heart down a bit and makes it a lot less scarey.

Some beta blockers will impare the short term memory if taken for a very long time in high amounts. I only take when needed because of that and take a lower dose.

Surg,

Biaxin is known for causing heart palps and other cardiac issues.

You should check it's package insert at someplace like RxList.com. Especially note the caution if you have low magnesium or potassium.

I strongly advise that you report this to your Doc.

The same problem happened to me as soon as the Biaxin reached its mean concentration level, and it was clear that the effect was increasing and growing with time.
