Is there test out there that can tell lyme disease has cleared up? I got lyme test done in july the first test was negative and then i had to retest in 2 week and it came back postive. By that time i was done with all the doxcy that was prescribe to me. My primary care said that i was allset and cured. She said call her if i have any more problems. In the meantime i got pregnant and i had a lot of fatigue but i just thought was from the pregnancy. So i just wanted to get some advice on what i should do. I am trying to get a doctor to see me but i seem to be having a problem as they want me to go to my primary care first and she is no help to me. What is a lyme specialst called so i can try and find a good doctor that might listen to me
Thank you Law

Hi Law,
We call lyme drs Lyme Literate MD's here. LLMD
You can go to find a dr. site to get help finding a dr.
Unfortunately, many primary and even infectious disease drs are not educated about what has been learned about lyme treatment.
Newbie site has info on lyme and some info on pregnancy, I believe.
I encourage you to GET IN TOO SEE LLMD as soon as possible. There are waiting lists for good ones, but tell them that you are pregnant and hopefully they will get you in.
Also, if it were me, I find a dr (urgent care possibly) to prescribe antibiotics to take until you get to lyme dr. Can tell them sinus infection or some other. They give them out like candy as long as you have a complaint other than lyme. Crazy!
Sorry that you have faced with this. Lots of good support here.

If you have EVER had Lyme disease, you need to treat it during your pregnancy. You can pass Lyme on to your baby if you do nothing about this. You likely did not get enough treatment, both in dose and duration. It sounds like you need to get a Lyme doctor ASAP who knows what they are doing. Amoxicillin and Bicillin LA are usually given throughout the pregnancy. Blood levels are monitored throughout. When the baby is born, you must have the cord blood, placenta and baby's urine tested for Lyme. Right now there is no 100% accurate testing for Lyme. You cannot say you don't have it anymore. You must treat to protect your baby, and let me know if I can help you find a Lyme Literate doctor. Email [email protected] and let me know where you are located and I will try to help you.

I was just talking to my LLNP about pregnancy and Lyme. She's had a lot of expereince with both.
She told me that as long as you are on antibiotics, things should be just fine. She mentioned something about penicillin.
She told me a tragic story of one of her patients who did not take the antibiotics and her child almost died. She said that there is a huge risk of major problems with the baby if you are not on antibiotics during the preganancy and have Lyme.
Just wanted to pass that on . . . congratulations and hope everything goes wonderfully for you!
Cheers,
Alison
