Just wondering if most people find that their insurance covers prescription medications (mepron, doxy, etc)? Seems like between the lyme specialists and the prescriptions this is one expensive disease (or multiple diseases if we include all the co-infections)!

so far mine has. I have Aetna PPO...but next year they are changing the prescription plan and i think i will have to pay the diff between the generic and brand name....if the LLMD says brand and there is a generic. Not looking forward to that since my last abx was 500....but i only had to pay 35.
it is very expensive...my credit card bill was 900 all Lyme related items.......its tough.

Mine (Blue Cross PPO) covers scrips; I pay a $25 co-pay with each.
So far, not too many problems other than them denying anything over 30 days IV. I did not fight them on it because my liver rebelled badly anyway.
One annoying prescription problem: the Provigil I need to stay awake and be functional they refused to cover unless I had a diagnosis of narcolepsy. Considering how often drugs are used off label for other purposes, that's amazing. I don't have narcolepsy, but fatigue from neuroborreliosis so bad I can sometimes fall asleep while people are talking to me. But that ain't good enough for Blue Cross (anything to avoid an expensive scrip!)

Self-employed, Golden Rule Alliance PPO $5k ded - 80% after ded met. Perscriptions run $1200 - $1500 per month for one. Gets very expensive when you start treating a family of 6 even with insurance. LLMD is out of network.

I have Blue Cross PPO individual plan (pay a fortune for this). Covers 80% of generic drugs but only 50% of name brands.
The first abx I was on was a name brand that ran about $1300 a month. I just couldn't afford it.
My LLMD is also out of network.
Over six months into treatment, I haven't had any problems with claims I've submitted.

My husband & I are very fortunate with our both having worked for the state for 30 years.
He retired WITH benefits. I left at age 49 with 30.6 yrs. of work with NO benefits.
As a spouse I'm covered by his. My drugs are $250 MAX which I meet in Feb. or March yearly so the rest ofthe years, my meds are FREE.
$800 out of pocket expenses for me too.
