If spirochetes go into cyst form after 24-48 hours of exposure to antibiotics, why do so many LLMD's prescribe 8-12 weeks of doxy or zithromax or rocephin, etc?

Why not 1 week on such abx, then 1 week off to let body recover & spirochetes come out of cyst form, then 1 week on those abx again?

Or, Why not alternate 1 week on those abx & 1 week on flagyl?

I know some of you take flagyl at the same time as abx for the spirochete form, but my MD does prescribe each 8 -12 weeks consecutively.

Even if all spirochetes don't go into cyst form at once, wouldn't they all be by 2 weeks or so? What then is the point of continuing antibiotics that are for the spirochete form for weeks after that?

I had success doing one-week on and one-week off, although I've never heard of a doc that treats like that.

Addressing your last question, it's my understanding that the keets must come out of the cyst form eventually. They need to reproduce and have fun, they can't do this whilst in the cyst form.

I like this thread.

Often wonder about the way to treat cysts...And where are they...I have neurob..are they in my brain or just muscles?

I have been pulsing for a while now

I had to do 6 month IV >

Then every week with weekends off.

Now pusle 4 days on 11 days off.

I do this mainly to allow my stomach & system to bounce back.

But it has taken me three years to get to this point.

Personally I think it depends on the person. Everyone's so different in their stadges & tolerance level.

Take care

I only take one 500 mg of zith a month. I also take falgyl and elmiron for three days severl times a day around the day I take the zith.

This absolutely knocks me on my fanny! A week later I will go to bed on Friday (I time this so I don't miss work) and I wake up on Monday.

We recently found out we will have to take the zith twice a month as Dr. J says the Masters' reproduces every 14 days.

So I was going to take a break and get some house work done before I started on twice what I was use too. I should have taken the pill Friday--but I didn't...

Saturday and Sunday I herxed! Saturday I slept till eleven and sat around in my pjs all day until I went to bed at 8:00pm. Then Sunday I sat and cried all day. My body was killng the stuff!

My husband and I always noticed there was the big herx (a week later) and the little herx (at the end of the month)! So our bodies are knocking them back the second time.

Still really overwhelmed I will be herxing twice a month--but I want to get better.

I like this thread too.

I think pulsing or at least rotating drugs is useful. Our llmd wasn't a big fan of pulsing but he has suggesed it now. His thought is to individualized it. A number of days off, depending on how you feel, he doesn't want too many symptoms and then drug on. He was still pondering lenghs of time also depending how we feel and drug used. I seem to herx between 5-8 days after a drug change, so I'm thinking I should be on for 10-14 days. I haevn't gecided how long off, maybe to a certain symptom level, which could vary each cycle.

Any body else with an individualized pulse schedule?

I need to run it by him later in the week for his current thoughts.
