my ob/gyn doc wants me to go back on hormones, cenestin .625 every day.
haven't taken them in a year or so. just quit on my own cause of the risk. however, am having problems with dryness, itchiness, and overall yucky feelings. so he wants to try again.
read somewhere about women and lyme and they said no hormones but can't remember where.

hi gen,
have you looked into bio-identical hormones? Your regular dr probably will not be trained in it so you have to find a dr who is. It is supposed to be as close to natural hormones as possible.
I am working with an intergrative doctor who does this although I am not needing it at this time.

I thing if you don`t mind sporting a beard.lol
It appears on past & recent test studies 1 thing it can`t battle is testosterone.
People in study, women, took high doses all got better everyone.
Now how safe is it for women to change their hormones so dramatically, only time will tell.
Is probably why more women with many of the so called auto-immune disorders.
Men may think like my dad entire life suffered with his knees, then when he was weakened with illness got severe RA immediately.
When men get to 50 or older start cropping up with maybe more diff. type complaints from knees to heart, also mentally.
When testosterone is high tuff for chetes to battle also mycoplasma.
Maybe not right answer just some hormone update.
Sorry gals once again we are wrong end of spectrum for illness. Take care, Kerry

Bio-identical progesterone should help to balance the other hormones. Hormones change hourly, so to be tested and have a compound pharmacist mix you up a personal batch is expensive. A good, USP airtight pre-measured pump that dispenses 20mg a pump is a good start.
My daughter and I are both on it. We adjust it up or down depending on symptoms.

I've been taking bio-identical hormones for about 4 yrs. They made me feel MUCH better! Your hormones have to be in balance in order for your body to be at its best.
Go to Amazon.com and look for a book by Dr Thierry Hertoghe called The Hormone Solution.

Before I knew I had lyme disease, I had two months of HORRIBLE PMS symptoms. Just awful. So, I saw a gynecologist, and got started on a low dose, bio-identical compounded hormone pill.
That leveled things off for me nicely.
Then I figued out I had lyme disease, and began treatment for that.
I have been able to back WAY off the hormone pill, and am now down to one a week! I think after a month or two, I'll even discontinue that.
I've wondered if my horrible PMS wasn't lyme getting my hormones out of balace.
I know lyme can get the thyroid out of wack...anyone have articles about it getting the female hormones out of wack?

Go to www.johnleemd.com. He is the doctor who pioneered the bio-identical hormone research. Look for the affect of autoimmune diseases on hormones.

Every woman's body needs different things -with that said I would just like to relate my short story.
I took low dose pill and can trace one of my worst relapses almost back to the very day I started on the pill.I even remember the day. It was on a wednesday.
Everybody's so different and one size does not fit all.
I haven't looked into the natural hormones yet but wanted to relate my story for what its worth.
I would dearly love to take hormones now as I have just recently hit early menopause. But from my past experience, for me it's just not worth the risk.
Taka care dana
