I've only completed 6 days on Rocephin 2 grams. I had a major herx after the 6th time. So, my dr advised I take a break for a few days.

My dr checked my gall bladder out by touching it, and I continue to press on it and it is sore!

I'm on a break now but while on Rocephin I take actigall, milk thistle, colostrum. I'll start a supplement called 'Gall' on Monday when I restart Roc.

Is the tenderness when pressing on the GB a sign that the gall bladder is having problems and bad things to come? Does anyone know please?? I'm worried ...

Sak,

Sorry that you are having to deal with this.

My daughter had tenderness in gallbladder area when she got diagnosed with lyme.

She did about 8wks rocephin, then had GB removed. Many gallstones.

Our llmd we were seeing at the time was of the feeling that lyme gets into the gallbladder and causes the problems. Closed organ so it can't get out or something like that.

In my daughter's case, she had had digestive trouble for at least 6months before the rocephin...I believe her GB was on the way out and the Rocephin furthured the inevitable along.

She did not take any actigall and did the infusing daily.

I have heard that infusing 4x (or some variation)a wk gives the system a break and is just as effective. This makes sense to me.

I have read posts here of folks with GB problems on rocephin that resolved.

Good Luck!
Char

P.S.

There are a lot of different IV abx...maybe a different one would help?

I have been on rocephin for 6 months and have felt my gallbladder area to be tender quite a few times but my ultrasounds have been clear.I sometimes find its worse after eating.

Thanks for your replies. So, is it safe to say that GB tenderness is not necessarily a sign of sludging??

SAK don't assume anything...Have you had any utra-sounds yet? Really only way to check.

I did 5 weeks of Rocephen with 3 ultra-sounds periodically. Developed 4 stones had to stop. Yes, LLMD had me on anti-gall too.

Good news is stones "dissolved" after stoppping Rocephen. Ultra-sound 1 month later showed no stones.

According to Dr Burrascano's guidelines 'Cefotaxime Comparable efficacy to ceftriaxone; no biliary complications'.

If you're worried you could ask to give Cefotaxime a try?

No. Pain is there for a reason. It's a warning sign.
