Has anyone had surgery while taking mepron?

Has anyone had surgery while having elevated liver enzymes?

The LLMD didnt think it was too much of a problem, but the surgeon was quite concerned.

It is a quicky surgery, (let's hope) only about 1/2 hour and laparoscopic. General anasthesia, pelvic surgery. If you want more details go to general and see my post there.

The recovery from the anasthesia will be the hardest thing on the liver, the surgery itself is not dependent on the liver to process anything.

My enzymes are only slightly elevated: AST 37 range goes to 36 and ALT 60 range goes to 43.

I always have elevated liver enzymes and liver pain while taking mepron. If I dont stop taking the mepron, they could increase even more before surgery. If I stop mepron this will be my fourth time stopping it in one year. I am afraid of resistant babs.

I am also on artemisinin, zithromax, plaquenil and actigall.

Any experiences or advice?

Hello Trails,

I don't get it? So how long will you be in the hospital? Not over nite?

Why do you have to stop the mepron? I don't think skipping one day will hurt.

My LLMD gave me permission to skip a day once.

Try not to skip but if you do.... don't swet it!

Not a doctor just a nosey lymehead!

All the best for your surgery!

Hi Heather!

It is out patient, and only 1/2 hour under general anasthesia.

My LLMD has taken me off the mepron even though he doesnt think my liver enzymes are too high to under go surgery.

The surgeon was worried, and stopping the mepron for 2 weeks seems to be the only thing to allow the liver to catch up.

So I have stopped it a week in advance of the surgery and will stay off it for the week of recovery.

But I would still like to know if anyone else had surgery while on Mepron or while having elevated liver enzymes.

COuld I be the only one???
