My daughter and I could really use some tips from anyone who has had a PICC line as to how to best avoid getting the bandage area wet. We tried wrapping Saran Wrap around the area, fastened at top and bottom with waterproof med tape but I think some water may have gotten in. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have been using glad press and seal then saran wrap then taking a piece of the saran wrap and tying it at the top and bottom then another layer of glad press and seal then rubber bands at the top and bottom. No problems so far. Good luck mimi

Something over the bandage to avoid pulling it up, like regular saran, then glad press and seal over all a couple of times and then tape very good top and bottom..
Do a search under the top post a reply and you will find a lot of additional info..

I picc'ed up (ha ha) one of these at the medical supply store. My daughter Georgia is modeling it for you here. It sure made life easier! I called it fondly "The Giant Plastic Arm!" Just slip it on and shower. Toss it over the shower curtain to dry when you're done.
I just dug it out and gave it to a friend locally who has lyme (met through my LLMD's office) and a PICC line. She is really happy with it!!

Here's a previous post about this very topic:
I got a xerosox when I had my PICC line but that was before they had the new one specifically for PICC lines (I had one that went all the way over my hand and up to just under my armpit). The one I had worked wonderfully and I was even able to go for short dips in the water during the summer with it on.
Other people have had good experiences with other covers. But I think any real cover is better than saran wrap or any other homemade cover.

I went to Farm and Fleet(or Tractor Supply store) where they sell vet gloves. Buy the large gynecological vet gloves and they reach the shoulder. Then I just rubberbanded it. No problems and very cheap. Hiker
