Hi-hope everyone is still around..unless you are better...
My son has done 2wks of mepron plus zith. The rx is for 2tsp Mepron plus 5oo zith on M-F. For 3 months. 1 week off at end of each month.
He is 12 and just miserable. Angry and wants to be alone. Said tonight, "I am bored watching TV all day with my muscles aching and feeling like they are tearing."
I am trying 1tsp Mepron with 250mg Zith. Would you do that everyday or the full dose MMF?
Are resistance issues different with Babesia meds than the lyme abx?
We are going to our previous LLMD in 2 wks.
(Blue Cross Blue Shield changes make it to difficult to continue with Dr. J Charlotte.)
Any ideas on how to strike a balence where my boy is making progress but not in Hell?
Especially don't want to mess up dosing and prolong this treatment!
Help.

It may be the Herx. Could be a good thing if your son can tolerate it, otherwise reducing the amount is a good idea but still has the effects.

I'm no expert on this, but I have read that babesia is particularly likely to become resistant to treatment, so it is best to continue uninterrupted if at all possible.
Is your son taking artemisinin? That is rumored to help prevent relapse...my LLNP suggested I take it.
I've been blessed to have an easy time with treatment for babs so far -- sorry your son is in such bad shape! Can he take anything for symptomatic relief while going through the worst of it?

Dave- Do you mean lower dosage won't lower side effects? My LLNP told me drug co. research showed this for Levaquin, and I think that was my experience. Do you mind clarifying?
Mini- I am trying to sort thru info on Artemesian. I get nervous to give to a child...even though I probably should be more concerned about giving these intense abx and anti-malaria med.
