Can anyone point me to any information, documents or links that discusses the life cycle of a Spirochete and related treatments?

I have heard about different stages such as plebe and cyst and I am trying to understand where I am in the cycle, how long my cycle is and the like.

I have also read somewhere that some treat different forms with different medications, such as Flagyl for cyst-busting and things like that but I have no idea where this all came from.

Any help out there most appreciated.

Hope someone understands what I am trying to get at...
thanks in advance,
*Bit*

Hello, I think I get what you are asking about. Here is a danish site:

http://kroun.ulmarweb.dk/links.htm

Scroll down to where you can see power point presentation, york 2003 and open it. It is a very good presentation of the cyst-form.

Also, go to pubmed.com and search for "brorson susceptibility" and you will find a resume from their research about cystic forms and the use of flagyl and tinidazole.

Flagyl or tinidazole will force open the cystic form of borrelia. As a curiosity; I had my blood microscopied by dark field microscopy (DFM) while on doxy; showed no sign of spiros. Then, after a few days of flagyl, one could see several long threads emerging.

Also, after adding flagyl to the blood in vitro, only subject to doxy, it was full of spiros coming out. Interesting experiment.
