HI APBs from this weekend and last week.

We never formerly started a group but how is everyone?

I am actually feeling better after a course of bactrim and diflucan.

Hi Jif, just saw this...

It's so good to hear you're feeling better. Did you get to talk to your LLMD about what might have caused the pain? Are you checking into it further, or hoping that the pain is just gone?

I've been wondering about TXC and True, and all the others, too, so I'm glad you posted this.

After my ER trip, & ensuing allergic reaction... my own pain seems to have settled down a bit. I stopped Ketek & started Zith last weekend, so maybe the change in abx has helped, although I suspect another episode may be lurking in the wings. Kinda reminds me of my old endo days, when severe pelvic pain could come and go at the drop of a hat.

Still trying to connect with LLMD by phone, to learn the next step (CT Scans showed nothing, according to the ER doc!).

Everyone else hangin' in there? Been concerned about True, since there were no answers last week... Anybody else?

hey kids [hi]

The pains on my right side have settled down a little since yesterday afternoon and I actully felt like eating last night and today. It's just a dull ache with intermitttant flares and back pain, now.

That's something, it's not gone but more tolerable. My fever's higher but nothing to get worried about.

I'm going to see if I can get my hands on the reports tomorrow and fax them to the LLMD. The gastro wouldn't fax out of state. [Roll Eyes]

Otherwise, just hanging out and hoping this either goes away or someone will give me a few options. Either I'd like the stones gone or take the stupid GB out.

Cactus --

Interestingly, I was on ketek when all the abdominal pain stuff started, too --- After a month off abx to clear the serum-sickness type reaction, I'm now on zith, and so far doing fine with it. When I tried to restart the ketek, the pains came back almost immediately.

Wonder if it is a ketek-toxicity sort of deal?

Hey, so good to hear that some of y'all are having a slight ease-up of pain!

I'm hanging on til I can see doc on Wednesday to "discuss my options" (regarding my HIDA scan which showed GB ejection fraction of 1%). After talking with a bunch of other folks and my LLMD, i know I definitely want the thing OUT ASAP!

LLMD mentioned that often the gallbladders are stuffed full of keets, and when the GB is removed, many of the Lymies feel A BOATLOAD better.

The acute gut-wrenching pain seems to have eased up for now. It still hurts, but it's more like a dull gnawing or burning, rather than a vicious stabbing.

True, here's hoping you get some better response from your doc.

Jif, that is interesting about the abx. I know that docs often prescribe broad-spectrum abx to GB patients to help combat secondary infections and such. Wonder if there is a relation?

I just went and picked up the results of that scan ferom the Gastro's office.

Looks to me like they did the wrong test. This is the report:

--------------------------
OP NM DISIDA HEPATOBILIARY
--------------------------

Exam: OP NM DISIDA HEPATOBILIARY
FOLLOWING iv ADMINISTRATION OF 6 MCI TO 99M CHOLETEC, IMAGES WERE OBTAINED.
PROMPT VISUALIZATION OF THE LIVER, BILE DUCTS, GALLBLADDER AND BOWEL.
IMPRESSION:
NORMAL DISIDA SCAN

Looks like they didn't do the part where they check the % the GB is functioning at. That's why I was there. [Mad]

TXC - is this what happpened with your first one too?

I don't know what to do but cry right now.

Any advice? [Frown]

BLUE - That's EXACTLY what happened to me the first time. The idiots screwed up and forgot the CCK part.

So... let me clarify... you did NOT have an IV put in and you did NOT receive any kind of injection into the IV about an hour into the test?

If so, you need another test WITH CCK. If you can't get these, ahem, "folks", to order it, do you have an LLMD that would order one for you? My LLMD was more than willing to, but happened to be out of town when I needed it!!!

I agree that it's odd that the stone/polyp is basically being ignored.

I'M SO SORRY you're having to find strength to fight for decent medical care!

Let me clarify a little -- your report said:

"FOLLOWING IV ADMINISTRATION OF 6 MCI TO 99M CHOLETEC..."

My original report said the same thing. Choletec is a different substance than the CCK (Cholecystokinin). CCK is a hormone that contracts the GB to make it squirt out the bile.

Choletec is Technetium Tc 99m, an imaging substance only. What they first inject into you to begin the test. Fine for determining whether or not you HAVE a gallbladder, but totally USELESS at determing whether the GB is functioning correctly.

YOU NEED A NEW TEST!! WITH "CCK"!!

Thanks TXC!
I got you on the other thread.

You're exactly right, I only had the one shot prior to the test.

My LLMD hasn't seen any of this and is out of state. I'm trying to get everything faxed over there. I'm not sure they can help me from there, though.

I'm going to see if I can get my hands on the film from the ultrasound. Last year there was just the one tiny stone. This time there are many!!!

I am reinsating my membership to this club in light of my excruciating lower pelvic pain this morning.

It was most likely a ruptured ovarian cyst...as i know i have some on the remaining ovary. (I know this from CT scans)

But since I have a right ureteral stent and have been hospitalized for peritonitis and a ruptured ureter and had the catheter for a motnh---it all kinda melts together.

My theory is that the cyst ruptured and iritated the bladder and that caused some urinary retention which, on TOP of the pain of free floating fluid is really alittle too much.

tears streaming down my face and lots of moaning yells. I am better and in bed with the heating pad. feels like a bad period now.

how is everyone else doing? any changes?
I foolowed your threads, but didnt post much. hope you guys are better than I am!

Trails,
Ouch! I'm so sorry! Just what you needed more pain to deal with.

I hope it lets up soon. I wish there was something I could do.

how about I send my best lower pelvic pain vanishing energies? I hope they help along with the heating pad.

(ps. the library has the book)

There is no news from here. Faxed everything to the LLMD and haven't heard anything, yet. Going into a pretty good relapse after being off everything for over a month and have no plan and still have abdominal issues.

TXC - How did the doc appt go on wednesday? Are you ok?

Cactus - how are you doing?

jif - I hope you are still improving. [Smile]
