These 2 MDs were recommended by an acquaintance. However, reading Dr. Lepore's response to our friend "doesn't sound like Lyme; keep them away from the internet and those quacks" makes me question his recommendation of Dr. Steere at Mass Gen.

Run the other way. Unless of course you want lyme to be left out of the differential diagnosis. Because that is what will happen. Or they will undertreat it. This is not a good way to get a good lyme doc. There are support groups in your state that will give better advice. Click on support groups line in green menu box, left side of this page.

we know tons of people on the cape who went to the docs you're mentioning and were treated horribly (in other words, not treated for the tickborne illnesses that turned out later to definitively have).
instead, get to an LLMD recommended by support group leaders and/or post on the seeking a doctor section of this website.
mass general is absolutely to be avoided!
