HI, am new to this site but have been reading it off and on for a few months. I was diagnosed last July by dr.s in PA. 6 months of oral Biaxin and just added oral doxy. Have always had a headache issue but it has gotten substantially worse since starting on the doxy. Coincidence or cause? Pain seems to be a combo of sinus and tension/severe neck pain. Can't live with it. Haven't found pain med to help yet. Either doesn't work or allergic to it ( like every other med). Is it just "kill off" symptoms? In desparate need of relief!

Tried Maxalt and Imitrex. No relief. Have been to two neurologist that specialize in headache (pre-Lyme diagnosis). Have tried everything from antidepressants to muscle relaxants to antiseizure meds. EIther didn't work or bad side effects. I have developed a very strong sensitivity to meds/chems. Even meds like VIcadin and Percocet that I used to take, now I have an allergic reaction to them. I have done accupuncture, chiropractic, osteopathic, and other energy/body work with not much result. I know there is a solution out there somewhere for this pain. If I could get the head pain under some control I would feel 75% better. I have a call in to my LLMD no response yet.

Have you ever tried Allegra D for relief? I have noticed that my lyme disease triggered a chronic sinusitis condition that warranted sinus surgery.
Maybe you should get a CT scan of your sinuses as well.
Good luck.

I just talked to my doctor and that's exactly what he is ordering, an MRI of my sinuses and head also. So I guess I'll go from there. I've tried different allergy and decongestants with no real success. Renee

Renny, Aggghh, the headaches are awful!! Two things I found that helped me. One is a good electrolyte formula - I use the one from Designs for Health - my nutritionist discovered I was losing electrolytes through some die off from the Lyme and all.
The other thing that worked wonders, especially with the sinus and neck thing was a homeopathic remedy called Sinusalia made by Boiron. I took it every 1/2 hour until symptoms let up and then stopped.
If they started to return, I took them again. After 4 days, it was the only thing that worked. I am no doctor, but maybe one of these things might help you.

If your headaches are in the back of your neck and between your shoulder blades (you may not even realize that you have pain there), deep tissue massage has helped me tremendously.
I can't believe I went for so many years with this type of pain. My therapist says I have a lot of tiny knots (toxin build-up) and they hurt the most after my lyme treatments.
Mangosteen juice (like TuTu said) also helped ~ actually, it helps with everything ~ sleep, anxiety, energy, great antioxidant, etc.
But if you have a lot of upper back and neck pain, go to a massage school where its cheaper and find someone who does deep tissue massage.
Now my gal comes out to my house. Its heaven to get rid of that pain. The knots were what was causing all of it.

I, too suffer from headaches- sinus, tension, shooting pain, migraines,
I've tried all the imitrex, maxalt, neurontin, topamax, etc
Best I found was Fiorinal w/ codeine, but use with caution. It can cause rebound headaches and can be addictive. I only use it when I absolutely have to. But it is great- has helped me a lot. I used to go to the ER for my headaches when Imitrex and other meds failed me. Sometimes I take it with a child's dose of Benadryl, too- An ER doc used benadryl with one of his "headache cocktails" and I found it to be very helpful for some of the headaches that come with allergy symptoms and flashing lights.
