Is there anyone out there who feels that bicillin itself made them sick as opposed to the horrendous herxs that bicillin can cause. I have been on two shots of bicillin 1,2 for 12 weeks now, yet feel the pain and possible herxing is worsening? Could I maybe just not be able to tolerate bicillin. Anyone out there like this.

Bicillin is very long acting, in studies it is still in the blood after 28 days - therefore you can herx for a very long time on this med.

I personally herxed for 6-8 weeks after 1 shot - make sure you detox really well and continue with some kind of antibiotic as I was told the spiro's will try to hide from the AB in tendons/tissues etc (I personally had tendonitis so very bad) but when you continue the Ab's symptoms start to go. Stick with it of switch antibiotic if your herx's give you no health gain or improvement- speak with you LLMD.

I'm scared for this, getting my first shot tomorrow. [Frown]

Did either of you experience immediate reactions that could impair your ability to drive?

I ask b/c I have to drive 1.5 hours to my LLMD's (so that the nurse can show me how to administer the shots). I'm kind of scared that I won't be able to drive home.

You really cant say howyou will react to bicillin-I personally was bed bound at the time I started bicillin so was not driving. For me it acted within 4 hours, it was then like being hit by a bus-dont let this scare you as Bicillin got me out of the house after 2 years of being house bound-the herx's were bad but at the time it helped so much.

Ellie, everyone reacts differently. After my first shot, I felt quite a bit drunk or stoned (in a pleasant, relaxed way). It did make driving more difficult, so did the heavy rain. If any doubt, have a friend go with you or stay in your llmd's office for a while after the shot to see how you will react.

Thanks everyone.

I had my first shot today and feel fine. I think the nurse diluted it with something that numbed the pain.

I didn't feel half as bad as I expected, just like getting blood drawn.

I am still waiting for a herx.
