Ever since I contracted LD, I don't breathe clearly through my nose. It always feels like I'm breathing through a coffee filter. I have been off antibiotics for quite awhile but this symptom has never gone away. A few years ago, they did an x-ray on my sinuses, but didn't really notice anything unusual. Does anyone else have this problem? Do you think it is related to LD?

Thanks in advance.

Julie

I thought my sinus drip was damage from LD but when I went on cipro it went away 100%!!! Does that mean yours will on cipro? Nope!!!

But I would try a few different treatments for it- ONE simple treatment which often works is gargling the nose with salt water!!! My LLMD told me to do that and it would alleviate it for a while- (yucky though*)!

Still, it could be something you
haven't treated yet!!!

Take care-

Mayo clinic did a study on sinus infections and determined 95% occur from fungus.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/1999/09/990910080344.htm

Healing my leaky gut has completely cleared my sinuses. I used to be so chronic that for years I was on inhalers and OTC antihistamines. I believe it was yeast overgrowth. I have grown up on antibiotics due to bacterial infections. I believe I had a leaky gut for as much as 10 yrs before chronic illness (RA) set in.

The doctor is currently treating me for H. Pylori and my RA is just disappearing.

A great juice recipe you might try.

A great natural antibiotic. Great for colds, sinuses, etc.

I have read that Mayo study before, also and I think I am going to get two nutramedix products for my hubby's bad sinus problems.

One is for sinuses and the other for fungus......but I forget the names of the two products.

I have had sinus problems for a long time (pre Lyme, too). Used to get sinus infections twice a year. ENT would not find anything even after the antibiotics were done and I still felt stuffy.

I am convinced it is yeast/fungus. I took some sporonox last fall and my nose cleared up real well. Reminds me to get some more homeopathy for fungus...

Mold can be a problem for sinuses, especially for Lymies. Find an allergist or LLMD who treats fungal sinusitis.

IgE blood testing & CT scans are diagnostic tools for this.

thanks luvs for the link [Smile]

I totally believe that about sinus problems being yeast related. When I go on diflucan or sporanox it really helps clear things up. I had an MRI of the brain & the only thing it showed was chronic sinusitis

For Julie~ sorry you are having problems with your sinus's. The 2 over the counter things that help me the most is "XlClear nasal spray with xylitol" ( it has grapefruit seed extract in it too) I get at vitacost

and simply saline I get it at walmart. I think it helps kill the germs in my nasal passages.

hope you can feel better soon [group hug]
Dana

none of the above is medical advise...just my 2 cents. make sure to talk over everything first with your LLMD

Treat for fungal. 50 days of Diflucan turned me into a new person. Both my Allergist and ENT were threatening surgery on my sinuses I was so bad. Upon returning to them after 30 days of Diflucan (150mg), they were STUNNED!!

I've now been booted from both offices and no longer need their care.

I second the Xlear. It's a saline made with Xylitol - stops fungi from sticking in your sinuses. I use it twice a day faithfully.

Julie,

They booted you from their office because something you did worked? [Eek!]

Some doctors want to be right a lot more than they want you to be well.

I think Julie meant that she is well and no longer needs their services...?

I've had a sinus infection for quite awhile now. Can't get rid of it. I'm headed to buy some XlClear... or whatever. I saw two different spellings, so I hope this is close enough to locate it!

Hadn't really thought of the fungus angle. I do take Diflucan though, so you would think the fungus would be under control.

Dang ragweed! [Mad]

Lymetoo,

Try the drink (garlic juice) It really does taste very good and knocks a sinus condition on its butt.

www.teeccino.com (look for articles/Caroline's garlic juice)

hi Lymetoo [Smile]

here's the link on where I buy my xlear:

www.vitacost.com *type in "xlear nasal spray with xylitol"...Sorry I couldn't get a direct link to come up

at least it gives a picture of the product. It has worked really well for me & like lymeinhell, I take it faithfully everyday.

I'd love to, but garlic makes my IC go nuts! Maybe it's a herx reaction, but I've tried several times to consume it.... to no avail.

Thanks, though!
