I am a real light weight when it comes to ABX. So instead of taking 2 Bactrim DS a day right off the bat like my LLMD wanted me to do, I started out with 1/4 of one to make sure I was not allergic and to see how I would react.
I took this first 1/4 of a Bactrim DS this past Friday. I did not feel much. I was depressed on Saturday but that was it. Then I took another 1/4 on Sunday. The only things I have noticed is nerve-type pains zipping through my scalp that I had at the onset of my illness and the muscles on my neck feel achy and sore. I am also sort of headachy but very mild.
Last night and today I have felt really nauseous. No vomiting but I have no appetite at all. I just feel so horrible now from the nausea.
I also noticed 3 or 4 tiny red dots on my throat that have popped out and I was really itchy last night.
No face swelling, trouble breathing, etc. I have taken Bactrim when I was younger with no problems. I am not sure if that means I am not allergic to sulfa or not.
I am worried about this nausea because I have never had it before. I am just finishing my 4th month of Babs treatment and I have never had nausea before until taking the Bactrim DS. I have had bouts of anorexia where I cannot eat but nothing like this.
Has anyone else experiences nausea on Bactrim DS?
I really want to be able to take this drug because I know how great is can be but I am not 100% sure I am not allergic to it or why I am having nausea now.
Thank you. I am so lost!

My drug reference book says that nausea and vomiting are common side effects of Bactrim.
Hopefully, your body will adjust to the med and the side effect will go away.
I would think that the insert they gave you with the prescription would advise people about this. See if it does. It may tell you how to deal with it, or you could call the pharmacist for ideas.
You are to take the med with a full glass of water.
Drink lots of water while on antibiotics. That always helps the body.
Wish you the best.
