I changed from Lupin Omnicef to Teva Omnicef a few days ago. Yesterday I started feeling irritable and anxious.

Can a change in Omnicef manufacturer cause this?

Hey Janice,
I know that Omnicef can cause anxiety. That's the reason I did not take it last fall, because my anxiety was already through the roof. If my new LLMD wants me to try now I may since my anxiety is better than it was.

I'm sure it could be the difference in brands too, not sure. Maybe someone else will chime in?

Take care,
Ocean

CD57,
I looked at possible side effects online. I'll find it... here it is:

I got insomnia and anxiety several months ago when I took a very brief break from Omnicef. My CNS calmed down and I slept soundly just a few hours after resuming it.

I've read that Omnicef hits Bartonella, so perhaps the new generic brand is weaker and isn't hitting bartonella (and Lyme) enough?

I'd try filling your Omnicef through another pharmacy that has a different generic brand or better yet, try the brand-name Omnicef if your insurance will cover and you can afford it.

If you can't refill yet, maybe tell your doctor you think your new generic is weaker and ask if you should increase your daily dosage?
