I was hoping someone might have some answers or advice.
I have a newphew who is 12 years old.
He contracted lyme disease about 9 months ago. The disease was caught late and he had to be treated for the disease thru an IV.
Before he had this disease he was a normal 12 year old. Since - he has been moody, agressive and sometimes violent. Could these symptoms be anyway related to this disease??
Any information would be helpful.

Yes, those symptoms most probably are coming from inadequate treatment. How long was he treated for the illness and was he tested for co-infections.
My advice to you is to get him to a Lyme literate medical doctor fast. You can post in the "seeking a doctor section" following the instructions listed there, for a doctor in your area that has an expertise in treating Lyme and co-infections.
You will receive guidance from those who see your post there.

Yes. emotional/psych symptoms often go hand in hand with lyme and co-infections. Psych manifestations are especially prevelant in the co-infection called Bartonella.
How long did your nephew treat for and was he seen and treated by a lyme literate medical doctor?

Hi woodzurk,
Yes, those symptoms can be related to the lyme.
Is he still being treated? How much treatment did he recieve?
It sounds like he needs to see a good pediatric LLMD. They are harder to find than they are for an adult, but otherwise he will just go downhill.
Dr's think that short term treatment is all a person needs and then you are cured. Wrong!!!
I am going to give you some links to good info. I'm sure others will too.
There are people here who have kids with lyme, so they will be good resources also.
He may be having other symptoms besides just the ones you mentioned also. It can present though, as just psychiatric symtpoms.
Keep posting here. There are alot of very good people here who will help you.
Bless you for caring so much about your nephew.

Thank you very much... I suspect this has to do with the disease. He was treated for 30 days thru an IV in his arm. That was all...

IV is always followed up with oral antibiotics to ensure that there is not a relapse. Most relapse from IV alone according to research.

I saw a video up here about a kid having such violent attitude. He had babesia and bartonella.

Dr. Burrascano's most recent "Diagnostic Hints and 2008 Treatment Guidelines for Lyme and Other Tick Borne Illnesses" @
please go to my newbie links, copy the entire thing, and then print this off....FINANCIAL BURDENS compiled by melanie reber print off pages 74 - 92; outstanding info there. i believe there are a few more general comments there without links!! print that off too as it's newer info from members thru their own personal, tragic experiences.
Betty's suggested POSTING GUIDELINES . many of us have neuro lyme where we can NOT read long solid block text and be able to comprehend and read it as is.
please edit your post by CLICKING PAPER/PENCIL ICON to right of your name. that opens up BOTH subject line and body text.
now please break up your WORDY SENTENCES into one sentence paragraphs. Then hit ENTER KEY ``TWICE`` after each paragraph; we need that space for comprehension.
then go to left hand corner and mark box to receive ALL REPLIES, and click EDIT SEND
we thank you for helping us; otherwise, we will SOB, SCROLL ON BY, since we can't read to help you. If I see posts like this, I SOB them; to hard on me. ------------------------------------------------------
People seeking doctors might be able to get help from their state online information and support group. Nearly 3,400 people belong to state groups. Some of the groups are small but more than 20 of them have 50 or more people and seven have over 100.
The groups are moderated and you have to apply. Most don't allow doctor names, but once on the group, you can ask for doctors in a certain area and ask people to email you privately. *******************************************
