I never had Neuro Lyme until I started with Antibiotics and it's just been down hill since then.

So, the more I treat, the worse my Neuro symptoms get, or so it seems to be the correlation.

Is this good ? Is this a sign that I'm making progress because it sure doesn't feel like it and I've only been treating for 4 months now.

I'm not being sarcastic either in my question. Is the fact that I'm getting worse a sign that I'm getting better if you can understand that ?

I don't know. My husband is getting a lot worse and has developed chronic fatigue since starting treatment four months ago.

I'm doing a lot better since starting treatment 5 months ago.

I'm very concerned for my husband and am not content to "see how things go." So I am researching and asking the LLMD for things.

One idea for you--have you looked into Questran (cholestyramine)? It cleans up the biotoxins.

It immediately helped me with pain and brain fog. From what I've read it makes some people feel worse, but it might be worth a try.

You also have to look for possible co-infections that are surfacing due to Lyme being pushed back.

Depends how much you support all your organs to drain and detox. If they can't drain, you get much worse.

If you use naturopathics and homeopathics to keep things moving, and do everything possible to keep down yeast and fungal infections, you don't have to get so much worse before you get better.

This is not good, and it is not a sign that you are getting better in my opinion.

I don't know if your doc uses the Burrascano lyme treatment guidelines or not. I recommend that you get a doc who does.

Before I got with a Burracano doc, I saw 2 other lyme docs who were not able to get me well. I got additional symptoms under their care while continuously on meds. Some of the additional symtoms were horrible and included horrendous facial pain (trigeminal neuralgia). This was because my lyme treatment was inadequate.

The "getting worse" that I experienced was a mild herx for a few days when I got with the doc who got rid of my lyme, babesiosis, and bartonella. When you "get worse" your symptoms can flare or you can get new ones temporarily or just feel very very tired for a few days. But that does not seem to be what you are describing.

Burrascano says that if the treatment is not agressive enough, the lyme disease and coinfections can progress while on antibiotics. In other words, if your antibiotic dosage is too low, and/or if you are on just a single antibiotic, you are probably not being treated agressively enough and that is accounting for you new symptoms. The diseases are progressing.

Have you read his guidelines? I suggest you study them and then decide whether or not you need to change docs. They are located here:

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

You can post the meds and dosages you are taking and hear what others think about your treatment adequacy if you like.

Also, my doc had me eat lemons and drink lots of water every day as a way of eliminating the toxins produced by these diseases. When you continually detoxify yourself, you don't get much of a worsening of symptoms (a herx as they call it).

You also must take measures to prevent yeast in your intestines. Are you doing this? If not, you will feel sicker on antibiotics because you also have now gotten systemic yeast. (Do you have a white tongue? That's yeast.)

The doc is the key to getting rid of these diseases (and a compliant patient, of course).
