To all my friends on Alinia,
I've been on it about seven weeks. I can't tell which are cyst-busting symptoms and which are Babesia (since it's supposed to work on both).
The exception is air hunger, which I had only occasionally at night before Alinia. Now on Alinia, I have it all the time, throughout the day too. I am positive for Babesia Duncani.
I have developed profound fatigue. I know that can be a Babs symptom. But I guess it could be Lyme cysts opening - it's just that fatigue wasn't a chronic symptom for me - usually more a side effect of medication.
And the last two days I've been crying all the time. I'm guessing maybe that's cyst-busting because I've known so many Lyme patients on Flagyl who became anxious, depressed, etc.
Oh, yeah, and the return of the rocking-boat sensation like I had on Rifampin (I'm still positive for Bartonella).
I'll ask my LLMDs when I see them, but it will be another month.
My worsening symptoms are not following any particular pattern (no 28-day, no full moon).
Thanks for any insight, Jill

I was not on Flagyl but when I had really bad babesia symptoms, just about anything could make me cry. Mostly other patients' stories on here.
I think emotional hell is one of the babesia symptoms just like 'lyme rage' is caused by something or another associated with these diseases.
Also, my "crying all the time" crap ended after a few months of Mepron. I'm way more emotionally stable now.

Also, some of my other babesia symptoms got worse with treamtent, though others got better. It's hard to tell what's babesia nad what's Lyme in any of these cases. I've heard lots of other people talk aobut having worsening of air hunger after starting treatment. Mine eventually went away, and I think taking a couple of courses of Alinia had something to do with it.

Thanks, Maria,
I appreciate your insight. I know you've been down the Babesia treatment path far longer than I have.
I became emotional - more anxiety-ridden - with the beginnings of Bart treatment so I know how these things can get stirred up.
It's kind of sounding like Alinia is stirring up Babs symptoms with me. I've never been on a cyst-buster despite five years of treatment so I have no frame of reference as to how my body would react to that.
My boyfriend is freaked out by the out-of-the-blue meltdowns when he is in town visiting. I keep trying to explain what a herx is to him, but he keeps taking it personally like I'm upset with him.
I start Malarone tomorrow so I should be a real joy to be around!
Thanks again, Jill
