Give your ideas on how to boost the immune system.

CD57 is low
Immunoglobulin and subclasses are extremely low
White Cell Count is low
Positive for EBV, HHV6, Parvo

I am currently taking:
Antioxidants
Transfer Factor
Probiotics
Detoxing
Trying to eating organic

Will start IVIG if insurance will approve it...

Any other ideas???

I'm such a visual person and one who has been blasted by stuff that others barely feel. So, rather than boost anything and fly to the moon, I like the word "support" as for many here, boosting can be very harsh.

I was just rereading Buhner's book last night and he spoke to many things to support either Th1 or Th2, different parts of our immune system.

Usually, for those with chronic lyme, one is depleted and one is over active. So, be careful what you choose so as not to boost the part of the immune system that is already overactive.

Same with detoxing, gentle, ongoing support is easier on our livers and kidneys than some of the harsher methods. Since there is such a wide range out there, it's just good to know.

You sound like you are on course and hitting the major aspects of support.

Are you taking anything right now of an antispirochetal nature? I guess Transfer Factor may help there, but anything else? When will you know about IVIG approval?

--

First question is how long have you had lyme? That matters in your choice of immune support. I am assume, iwht the EBV and HHV6 and Parvo, that you have been ill for a while.

This is a very good that explains a lot about how to work with the immune system, at various points in lyme's timeline. Even if you are not considering this protocol, this is a very helpful book:

I'm taking it too, just started last week. Too soon to tell what the effects are, other than vivid dreams.
If you do a search on here you will see lots of discussion about it.

My LLMD recommended AG Immune by Body Wise which is a blend of Arabinogalactan, Astragalus, Ai/E10 (supports nk cells) and Maitake mushroom.

Definitely High dose Vitamin C..to bowel tolerance...as much as 10-20gms a day.. If you can get it intravenously you can take much higher doses. I use to get IV Vit C when I got my IVIG,

isn't astragalus contra-indicated in late stage Lyme, per Buhner?

It is working well for me. It really did not have any effect on me other than keeping my Crohn's symptoms in check, which was what I was after.

It did not affect my energy level one way or the other.

No side effects other than the vivid dreams for a few weeks. I kind of liked the dream part.

CD57 asked: "isn't astragalus contra-indicated in late stage Lyme, per Buhner?"

--

Yes. As a "Yang" herb, it is very stimulating in nature it can be much too harsh on the adrenal, adding to further the depletion. It also stimulates the part of the immune system that is in overdrive for those with chronic lyme.

In a balanced formula, however, it can be fine. Upon first glance, the formula posted by GEMOFNY, AG Immune by Body Wise, might be fine because it is a combination. I have found that medical mushrooms can often have an adaptogenic quality and help the body in however is needed. Still, it'd be nice to know if this target more of either the Th1 or the Th2 - or equally.
