I do hope the patient featured here today and others dealing with the serious consequences of Lyme and tick borne coinfections will be feeling better soon.
The doctor mentioned in the article is an amazing researcher, diagnostician and clinical practitioner. I've heard him speak and heard from some of his patients and he is highly regarded in his field.
Only one slight concern about the article contents and a humorous one at that.

Actually, unless another new disease has been identified that I am unaware of, what Burnaman and others have contracted is not a disease named after our favorite little deer, Bambi.
It is actually called Babesiosis. I believe it was named after a Romanian pathologist, Dr. Victor Babes.

There are a couple of Bambi's that work here in my office building that this could certainly be cause for their concern.

It's not even correct to say "Sally was infected with babesiosis microti."....so they messed it up in two ways.
"Infected with" implies you are talking about the microorganism, not the disease itself, which involves all the symptoms, etc. The organism is babesia microti. The disease the organism causes is babesiosis.
So it is either babesia microti, or babesiosis, but not babesiosis microti.
At least they tried!
