about 3 months ago had some symptons that reminded me of previous lyme that i had. stiff neck, brain fog, swollen lymph node underarm, tired, headaches.

went to my old llmd , quest eliza positive, neg w/b.started 3000 amoxy for 4 weeks. was feeling better but at the end of the 4 weeks i began to lose my appetite and having some anxiety.

at my urging we switched to doxy, on the 4 day i got a rash(looked like a lyme type rash but not a bullseye. the dr stopped the doxy.

i swtiched llmds to one that was much closer. was seeing dr c in mt kisco ny and switched to dr. s in howell nj. dr s said he needed me to have a igenex test before treatment. also said i had some candida starting.

at this point, my appetite was gone and i couldn't even look at food. he gave me some diflucan and i felt better for 3 days.

by the 4th day all the gastro symptoms were back(i did not do a good diet).igenenx came back igenx positive on igg and igm.

while off antibiotics for 10 days i still had no appetite and nausea .began. stress thru the roof with depression.

finally i started to feel better and normal. dr s then started me on cedax.

9 days on cedax my loss of appetite and other symtoms returned. dr s said i had neuro lyme causing the anxiety and depression and maybe causing the gastro problems.

got diarrhea and he stopped the cedax. got approved for iv and started iv zithromax. 5 days into the iv and no change but my tongue is white.depressed and anxiety tru the roof and startede getting night sweats.

sleep problems.
never took a psych drug in my life and now started taking wellbutrin.

i really am starting to think that maybe the antiobiotics are causing the problem and i have devloped a terrible yeast infection incuding stomach trouble and the depression and anxiety.

the crazy thing is i get 5-7 hours of normacy on some days(not many)

went to a id for a 2nd opinion and we all know what she said. lyme finished, the antibitics are the problem.

anyway i am starting to wonder, meanwhile i have this picc line in me. is it yeast of lyme.

please HELP WITH SOME REPLIES.

Yeast is a big possibility. It needs to be SERIOUSLY addressed.

Bartonella may be a situation to investigate too. And Babesia also.

You DO know what a herx is I assume?

The rash could have appeared then... as could the increased symptoms.

I am NOT a doctor.

Hope you feel better soon!

Lyme, especially neuro lyme can cause much of what you are speaking of and it can intensify with treatment. Anxiety/depression are not uncommon.

You certainly could have yeast issues as well, especially if you said your tongue is white. Not uncommon at all.

You should also have your adrenal function tested to see what your cortisol levels are. This could also cause anxiety and depression.

In addition, testing for heavy metal toxicity would be in order especially if you are experiencing anxiety.

As to GI issues it could be coming from the lyme, possible co infections, yeast and even the medications you are on.

BTW, what medication are you presently taking and have you been tested for co-infections and mycoplasma?

all my coiinfections are negative but i think the dr suspects bart.

the weid thing is that it seems like when i get those hours of feeling normal my appetite comes back. i don't know if it is my gaining of appetite reduces my stress or if my deression/anxiety lifts and i get my appetite back.

so frustrated as i have lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. i feel like all my depression is related to the LOSS OF APPETITIE. does this sound crazy.

i am on vacation now and realized i should have waited to do the IV until next week as i can't even swim with my kids in the ocean. makes me even more depressed.

i have the waterproff protector and the company says i can swim with it but i am nervous to do it.

also scared to be taking the wellbutrin as i hope i don't mess my brain chemistry up.

i just can't believe i am taking them.

i am on the zithromax iv.

wellbutrin was very helpful for me. i took it for several months and then slowly stopped on my own after my anxiety diminished.

you might feel fake happy sometimes, but i found that better than being real depressed. my family did too [Smile]

enjoy your vacation and think of all the things you can do; not about the things you can't.

Are you seriously following the anti-yeast diet? If so, maybe it is time for nystatin, diflucan, or one of the herbals.

Yeast can cause a whole host of symptoms, including mental and sleep problems.

I think you have two problems... yeast and Lyme.

Both need to be treated.

It also sounds like bartonella needs to be addressed.

Yeast sounds like it is part of the problem and lyme too but it also sounds like babesia could be part of the picture.

Before I knew I had lyme I was on abx for pneumonia. I was very ill the whole time I was on abx - I'm sure it was a herx.

I kept throwing up the abx so they made me take it for many months.

After I was off abx I developed severe anxiety, sweating, loss of appetite. Looking back on it I'm pretty sure it was babesia. This lasted for a number of months. I had a lot of trouble keeping my weight up because food tasted like cardboard and I had no desire to eat.

After that I had a remission for 5 years but then my illness came back with a vengence. Please see it through now rather than later.

Also want to mention that my babesia tests are negative but it is clear that I have a protozoan infection that responds to babesia treatment based on my response to treatment.

Diflucan (systemic yeast infection) makes me sooooo sick, but if i only take 1/4 of a pill, it is helping to reduce symptoms. I would get yeast medicine, but start really slow (small amount) and see if you get some relief. Yeast will make you miserable.

I always recommend blood thinner (bulouke) because if you have hypercoagulation problem---blood thinner helps all meds to be more effective.
