So I have posted here before for myself as I am newly diagnosed with Lyme. I just got the antibody test results back on my 5 year old and it was positive. I am just sick.
I posted in the seeking doctor forum for a pediatric LLMD but am wondering if any of you have experience with treating kids. Is the protocol the same?
His immunologist started him on 21 days of Ceftin - does this sound like it will do anything?
I am so worried that all of my boys have this and I have had it longer than I thought and passed it to them while I was pregnant.
Guess I'll be making some more appts. for the other 3 boys to get tested as well.
Weeping and distraught.

I know exactly how you feel.
I felt the same when I found out my 5 and 4 year old were positive too.
Hang in there.
My children did zith until one had an allergic reaction.
Then switched to amoxi.
If you test 3 or more family members at one time,
Igenex used to give a 15% discount. Call and ask.
The good news is they are young.
One of mine is in remission.
Sending you positive thoughts and prayers.
Hugs,

Aimee, Are you going to the August Virginia Lyme Support meeting? I think it is this weekend but I will have to double check.

Where is it? We are on vacation in MD right now and will be leaving on Saturday. I'd be interested to know - if there is any way we can swing through I'd really like to do that.

I get where you are coming from. My 13 year old and almost 5 year old are Igenex positive as well.
I'm sorry about your news. Better to know, but so, so, painful.
My 13 year old was on Ceftin/Zith for awhile, then Zith/Flagyl (which didn't even make him herx. . I didn't agree with the LLMD on this one), and now we are doing a homeopathic remedy with herbs. . but likely going back.
The almost 5 year started on Zith. He takes a homeopathic lyme remedy and supplements, including NK function building mushrooms. Still taking Zith, we cut and grind, but switching to compounded.
I'd be happy to chat. Hang in there.

Can you take him to Dr Charles Ray Jones in New Haven, CT? He's the world expert lyme pediatrician.

We are on vacation - it would figure I'd get his diagnosis this week! Anyway - I have a list of doctors to call tomorrow and Dr. Jones is at the top of my list. I'll hope to get on his waitlist and get into see another LLMD in the meantime as I understand it is a lengthy wait. Thanks for the replys guys - I really appreciate them all.

My son (2 1/2 years) has congenital lyme. Just know this, Dr. Jones (famous lyme pediatrician) says lyme is curable in children. That's right, I said CURABLE!
You're lucky you know now while your child is young and can be cured.
