How do you know if you have other infections besides the Lyme? I have been treated with Dox. and Amox. and every thirty days I get sick again. Mostly aches swollen joints, and sinus infections. I also have swollen limp nodes at the site of the original bite. Also I have seen that you don't need to smoke is there a simple explanation for that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like lyme cycling to me. Cindy, do you have a lyme-literate MD (LLMD)? That's what you need...

Hi cindy - Welcome to Lymenet! [hi] I'm sure others will be along shortly with more info, but meanwhile, please see the threads at the top of this Medical Questions section for all kinds of info.

Those swollen lymph nodes of yours sound a bit alarming. Please check out references to Bartonella co-infection of Lyme.

I hope you don't need to smoke because if you do it will set you back!!

Get an LLMD and get tested for the coinfections like babesia and bartonella.

The monthly cycles are typical herxes due to the cyclical nature of the spirochetes.

The testing is not real accurate, so finding a dr who knows how to evaluate you clinically would be a very good idea!

Welcome to Lymenet!

It sounds like you need more treatment. Lyme can be difficult to eradicate. If you post under seeking doctors, someone will send you the name of a Lyme specialist near you.

I didn't understand your question about smoking.

Quit smoking because smoking is a really stupid thing to do. If you smoke, you will not get well, ever.

The site that I was originally bit at is lets say near down south. The limp nodes on that side are very swollen and tender. When I went to my regular doctor and told him and he felt it he said to take the antibiotics he gave me for bronchitis. This is the third time I have had bronchitis since I was bit by the tick. He could not tell me why my limp nodes are swollen. How do I get him to give me a referral?
