i have not been able to get in touch w/ my Dr. re: my test results. Does anyone know more about what the results mean? She was not too responsive at my visit so i decieded to call back for more info and still waiting. she wants to do heavy dose of antiboitics for 30 days. so far doing some natural rememdies.

i was tested for Lyme w/ bands supposedly and do have results in hand.

postive LYME Ab.,IgM 1.10 normal is .90

negative LYME Ab., WB, IgG Negative

Note: A result of equivacol or positve for B.burgdorferi (LYME Ab) should not be interpreted without supplemental western blot tesing.

what is the difference between IgM and IgG?

it seems the B.burgdorferi is negative and have a low level of something but what? my Dr. claims Lymes is Lymes.

Thank you for any input.

They are right. It does not matter if it is IgG or

IgM. If either is positive. You may say you do have

neuroborreliosis which is what doctors seem to

like to call the illness. See Dr. C's WB

Explanation in top of thread. I would post in Seeking

a LLMD in Flash Discussion section for a LLMD in

XXXX. 30 days is not enough antibiotic to cure in

my opinion. I would say if it was even the day

after a bite, I would want at least 90 days

worth. But that is just me. Many docs think you

can cure this like strep throat but that is

simply not so.

Welcome!!! [Smile]

This is from Dr C's Western Blot Explanation:

"With most infections, your immune system first forms IgM antibodies, then in about 2 to 4 weeks, you see IgG antibodies. In some infections, IgG antibodies may be detectable for years.

Because Borrelia burgdorferi is a chronic persistent infection that may last for decades, you would think patients with chronic symptoms would have positive IgG Western blots.

But actually, more IgM blots are positive in chronic borreliosis than IgG. Every time Borrelia burgdorferi reproduces itself, it may stimulate the immune system to form new IgM antibodies.

Some patients have both IgG and IgM blots positive. But if either the IgG or IgM blot is positive, overall it is a positive result.

Response to antibiotics is the same if either is positive, or both. Some antibodies against the borrelia are given more significance if they are IgG versus IgM, or vice versa."

==============

I would HIGHLY suggest you get a western blot from Igenex Lab. Ask your dr!!

Doesn't sound like this is an LLMD you are dealing with. Unless you just got bit yesterday, 30 days of abx won't do much good.

I'll be back with the link to Dr C's WB so you can PRINT it out and read the whole thing.

thank you both for your responses. my Dr. is not LLMD so i plan to see one for more accurate testing.

in short i had Bulls Eye early August. first test negative in August, second in October postive w/ above results. from what i read i can tell a specialist would be better for follow up.

i am staying on my natural remedies as so far proven effective for folks who have had it far longer with more symptoms than I.

thank you again.
