I thought the fact I never am sleepy was due to adrenal exhaustion but was recently tested and cortisol 4 times a day is just fine.

So I'm wondering why I'm never sleepy. I've been on ambien for almost a year and don't like that fact.

Ive been suspicious of bartonella because of anxiety and headache but think it would have been knocked out when on zith for lyme.

Anyone else experiencing this even after treatment?

Makes me feel so abnormal when with people and they yawn or say they're sleepy. I want so much to feel that!!!

This story is like telling a homeless guy you don't know what to do with all your food. I'm the one yawning all day long. [Frown] I understand we all have our own issues though. I wish you luck solving it.

I can empathize seekhelp, because that used to be my problem and I wouldn't want it back.

The problem is I'm totally exhausted all the time. It's pretty cold here (1 degree F) Maybe if I'd go stand outside for a while before bed it would make me drift off.

I just miss the feeling of winding down at the end of the day, feeling snuggly in bed and dropping off into delicious oblivion.

My headache wakes me up even on ambien.

Well, no wonder you don't get sleepy, Marz! I don't know if the headache is all of it, but it sounds like you need to take care of the headaches first of all. (Too late to go into it now).

Zith alone might not be enough to get rid of Barts.
Since I have Barts, I don't sleep longer than 4-6 hours and feel more agitated than tired which wasn't so in the 20 years with lyme before Barts.

Just a thought.

It's interesting Kadee that we sort of are on the same timetable for these symptoms.

AND I got lyme in 1992 in Germany! If thats where you got yours, maybe it's the same strain of bart (if that's what I have.}

It really does sound like bart which is really hard to get rid of so zithro probably did not take care of it. Other symptoms are painful shins or soles of feet, hot flashes, muscle twitches, swollen lymph nodes (anywhere on body) feeling of needing to urninate frequently, bad headaches, insomnia and the mental emotional problems such as depression, anxiety and anger = the surreal feeling of not being connected and memory and cognitive failure.
It sucks but not sleeping is one of the worse symptoms by far.
You might check your skin for indications of bart - tiny blood blisters on torso and neck, spider veins, lumps under skin that you are unaware of until you press them and then they hurt, stretch marks, swelling that does not dent, skin tags, . . . there are many more.

I hope you can find relief. Corydalis root is very helpful for sleep if you can get off the ambien. All those drugs lose their effectiveness after awhile.

Marz, I actually got infected 1987 with lyme at the Californian coast [Wink]

But many more times after that also in Germany, since I was around horses.

And last year the final tickbite with Bartonella.
Never thought, I could feel so much worse than I did before. [Frown]
I would say, Barts is much worse than Lyme.

I am exhausted, but never feel sleepy. I crave to feel sleepy.

I use Ambien and Xanax to sleep, but once I'm awake thats it. No matter how tired I am, sleepy is never a part of it.

Don't know if its bart or lyme. My knees, shins and heels hurt. The anxiety is not as bad as it use to be though. Fatigue is a little better too.

My doc always calls it lyme. He says lyme is harder to get rid of.

I don't know how anybody really knows! I'm thinking maybe bart. I wonder if Doxy helps bart. This is what med has helped me the most.

So good to know there are others out there craving sleepiness!

Not that I like for us to suffer, but at least when I put my head on the pillow at night and wait for the ambien to kick in, I'll know I'm not the only one.

I have a difficult time sleeping. I do notice that some medicines make it worse. Also, certain meds cause your sleep meds to not be effective, for example - Rifampin.

I possibly have lymes, diagnosis changed from MS to myleopathy since spinal taps and MRI's are normal. Have an sppt. with a lyme specialist in March. I never sleep. I am on baclofen, neurtin, and dantrolene, for muscle stiffness. All meds have a side effect of drowsiness and I have not slept more than 2 hours at night.Have taken ambien and xanax together with no effect. I am desperate to sleep.

Don't know if its bart or lyme.

Me exactly.. minus the xanax.

I would say it's more likely from Lyme since I don't have bart.
