My husband rushed me into the ED this past Tuesday due to pain in my back and violent vomiting. Scarey!

Come to find out I had a large horseshoe shaped stone stuck in my ureter tube and multiple stones in my kidney.

They scheduled me for surgery on Tuesday - removed the stone, went up into my kidney and lasered (broke up) the stones in my kidney and placed a stent in my ureter tube. OUCH! They said I had the start of hydronephrosis.

While in the hospital I received many, many medications (levaquin, gyntamicin, cipro, dilaudid, phenergan, pyridium and toradol).

I've been home since Wednesday afternoon and have had much pain and much crying since being home.

Yesterday, I finally decided to take the toradol that they sent me home with to help with the awful pain. Today I've been having weird feelings in my chest...periods of tightness, heart beating fast, a little pain and anxiety. Has anyone else experienced this with pain medicine?

I'm afraid all this pain, crying and being upset has stirred everything up with my lyme symptoms.

The reason for my post is to ask everyone if they've had this weird chest experience with stress or pain meds.

Even if noone has any comments thanks for being here to let me express my feelings.

Have you been supplementing with magnesium?

Low mag can cause anxiety, heart irregularities, muscle spasms, pain.

This could be from the medication, I'm not sure. Best way to know would be to stop it for a couple days if possible and see if you feel any better. If you absolutely need something, maybe you would tolerate prescription strength ibuprofen better (it's also an NSAID). Anxiety and heart symptoms are a side effect of your medication.

Did you previously have anxiety or anxiety/panic attacks? You could be experiencing "normal" anxiety since the event sounded quite tramatic, or possibly you have Bartonella and the Levaquin/Cipro stirred them up a bit. Anxiety and/or Bartonella can cause all the chest tightness/tachycardia you described. I know those feelings well.

Take it easy.

Thanks for the replies. I've been off all my supplements because of the upset stomach so no, I haven't taken any magnesium (prior to this event I took 1 a day).

I was actually diagnosed with bartonella the last time I was at my llmd. It could be that it has been stirred up with all of this.

All I know is that I hate this feeling so much. I'll just keep telling myself that I'm okay and try to stay calm.

Just another detour in my journey.

Thanks again so much everyone.

Please check here about the Toradol....

www.drugdigest.com

I think it could be from the med itself. You may need to call your dr and ask for a different pain med.

You NEED a pain med!!!! It is not good for you to be in such pain!

Here's hoping and praying you will recover from this quickly! [group hug]

Yes, Toradol made my heart race! I can not take it! They gave it to me in the ER and my pulse instantly went from 80 to 160. I thought I was going to have a heart attack.

I just want to add that any hospitalization is stressful and to us with so much to deal with it can take a long time to get healed and back to "normal" which for us.. is "pretty sick".

I am still hurting 2 weeks later and es in the middle of the night I get hurting more than normal.. Still..

So.. it is getting better each day.. but .. I think it is for me a response to trama and increased inflamaation...

The trauma can affect us in differnet ways..

Take care of yourself and rest and if it does not get better over time.. or is to the point of where you really get worried.. call your doctor and get more options and evaluations....

Blessings to you..

And

Take great care..
