I am newly dxed and wondering how long I have had this.
12 years ago or so I had a bunch of ear infections. I took sulpha antibiotics. (not sure exactly what). I loved taking them because I would feel so terrific on them. Much higher energy than normal and generally really terrific, happy etc. It is certainly possible that I had Lyme then and have been wondering about that reaction. Most Dr's I talked to about it hadn't ever heard of that sort of reaction to them.
Could they have been treating my Lyme and making me feel better?

I would ask the same question. What types of symptoms have you had for the past 12 years?
I had a similar situation but I also did have a tick bite and bulls eye rash (I didn't know at the time it was Lyme).
I became very ill. My doc gave me a prescription for H. Pylori even though I didn't really test positive. I was almost in the positive range. I felt sooooooo great on those antibiotics. I had tons of energy etc... After I finished them I felt lousy again.
That was always a sign to me that I had some kind of infection. About 1 1/2 years later I found out I had Lyme.
