My yeast issues are out of hand. LLMD is keeping me on Mepron but said stop Biaxin because of yeast. I thought Mepron had to have another abx with it??

Arteminisin and Flagyl was added as well as Diflucan for 30 days.

Anyone else been on Mepron without zith or Biaxin?

I agree with daniel, Your are better off waiting to take the Mepron until you can take it with another antimalarial medication. If you have a spleen and are less than 65 years old you can afford to wait and do it the right way. If you read about malaria, babesia and parasites of the phylum Apicomplexa in general dual medication is key to preventing antibiotic resistance and treatment failure.

Regarding yeast - VSL#3 is not enough. It is only one strain. You need to add in probiotics that have multiple strains. Very important. You'll need to do a little research to see which one is right for you (some are quite costly.)

Also, diet is critical, as you probably know.... no sugar, fruit, pasta, bread, anything white, no refined foods, etc..

VSL DS #3 has 8 strains.

Diet is a problem. LLMD told me to try gaining weight by eating everything except sugar.

VSL # 3 has plenty of strains, not one. It is highly recommended to take along with FLorastor.

If you have yeast and are on antifungal drugs, do not take the FLorastor until you are finished.

Why don't you just use Malarone plus artemesia instead of Mepron with nothing?

LLMD did not say anything about Malarone. I questioned him about using Mepron without another abx and he did not seem concerned, but I am. I don't know what to do. I just wish I could trust somebody to get me better!

I am herxing like crazy from diflucan. I think I will hold all meds a couple of weeks and then restart. I don't want to call and question the LLMD because I have only been seeing him for a couple of months....sounds like I may need to look for yet another new LLMD??

I quit azithromycin, mepron, and artemisinin for a month because of yeast overgrowth. Using diflucan and some herbal remedies, probiotics, and bio-k, the overgrowth was reined in. But, off the meds, unexpectedly, my other symptoms came roaring back and it took three months back on meds to get to a comfortable place. Maybe two weeks wouldn't do that, but I would be careful.

Would you please let me know the herbal remedies that helped? Also, I never heard of bio-k before.
