I did a course of Daraprim/Coartem 2 1/2 weeks ago and had a horrific herx that was all psyche but no Babesia symptoms on it.
My LLMD let the Herx Clear and then I started Clindamycin 6 days ago and I am to start Malarone soon
On Fri I was having real pain in my joints abd by the evening I felt very symptomatic, raised Temperature, chills and like a flu like feeling and then it went and then Saturday Evening I became so ill and was on the sofa at 4pm and in bed by 6pm:-
Raised Temperture Chattering Teeth/Chills What seemed to be the worst flu like syptoms ever literally every joint and muscle in my body hurt and I was so so weak Then I had profound sweats in the night I mean so drenching we had to change the bed and i was so sweaty my hair was wet SO SO weak
I thought I had the Flu but got up Sunday and the intensity had gone
Last night just had night sweats
I dont seem to have any air hunger
I have had Babesia symptoms before with night sweats etc but have never experience what feels like flu like symptoms with it
SO does this sound like Babesia flare??

It sure sounds like a babesia flare. I never had many air hunger issues as well.
When my babs flared,,,I remember chills so bad that my teeth chattered. I was weak as well with a temp not that high but still there.
Take care.

Hi, it sure sounds like one to me.
I 've had flares where I had such chills my teeth chattered, fever, sweats, malaise.
This passed after the flare.
good luck.

Thanks Janise - I really thought I had the Flu as every muscle, even my fingers hurt, when I got up in the night I was so weak and flu like i thought thats me down for days with the flu but it was better somewhat by Sunday.
So can you get what feels like extreme flu with Babesia
I have had Babesia symptoms before but the seem to have changed, I have never known the intensity of these sweats or never had flu like symptoms or the chills
I use to be able to tease these infections apart but no more as my symptoms are so different now
anyone elses input would be great (symptom list on original Post)

Rianna, Have you ever felt air hunger? That seems to be the biggest issue with me regarding babs.
I feel like an elephant sitting on my chest. I also have congestion like a chest cold.

Perhaps the babs load is down. I think mine is coming down finally. I just think my lingering symptom is the air hunger.

I have had weakness, chills, sweats, and exhaustion like you describe with Babesiosis.
About five days after starting Clindamycin, I had one of the worst herxs I have had in a long time. Over time, this has been a great med for me.

YES. You don't need to have all of the babesia symptoms to have it. The extreme weakness was always babs with my children. And the drenching night sweats are a big babesia red flag.

What can you do for the air hunger? It's really bad and can't breathe?
I don't know if I should go to the ER or try an inhaler.

Rianna, is this the first time that you have used Clindaymycin?
Maybe your strain of Babesia is more sensitive to that drug and that is why you are getting a much bigger reaction.
Do you know whether babesia in the UK is often treated with Clindamycin?
I am in Canada, but got infected with Lyme/Babesia in the UK. I have never tried Clindamycin.

But did you not keep on it for long enough.....is that why you still have the infection? How did you decide to stop the Clindamycin?
