I was given valtrex yesterday for cold sores and swollen glands that developed and lysine to take.

I took the valtrex last night and a few hours later my regular omnicef. I went into such pain that I have never experienced! Not only pain that I could not move any part of my body but shooting pains all over when lying still?

Today I feel just as bad. Took the valtrex again since the glands are hurtign so badly under my neck but what is this strange affect i am having? I know you cannot herx on anti virals? Maybe it is the mix of the two? I am not sure whether to stop the valtrex that my GP gave me. He also gave me a pill for pain since I refuse any narctics. It is an anti inflammatory that you take once a day. I tried it this morning and it does nothing!

I feel so horrible. Only feel better when I stop my abx and the whole treatment. I dont understand it. I did not take the abx or nutrients sunday so I could go to my moms bday party and was pretty good. The next day take the abx and valtrex and I am bedridden again. I take my espom baths and vsl3 for probiotics and follow diet.

What is this horrible pain in joints and thigh muscles too? Went from shopping to walking with a cane. Should I push through it and just try to walk it off?

"What is this horrible pain in joints and thigh muscles too?"

It's a very common symptom of lyme often made worse by treatment for a period of time until you get over the hump.

I don't think you should have taken the Valtrex without consulting your LLMD.

If you are feeling so badly and if you are continuing to get worse you should insist on moving up your appointment with your LLMD to re-evaluate what's going on. Perhaps, your meds need adjusting.

It's not a question of walking it off or pushing through it. You are seriously ill. You should only do what you are capable of doing and if that means sleeping all day, then that's what you do.

Each time you push yourself beyond what you can do, your nervous system get's disturbed and it sets you back. You can't heal if you over extend yourself. Focus on resting, keeping your mind as calm as you can, avoid excess stimulation and frenetic situations.

Consider meditation or guided imagery.

You have a very long road ahead of you.

Thanks Abx.Sometimes you need to be told it is ok to lay down. Why is it we always feel lazy when we are not working and then not doing the "home" things as we should?

I will call the LLMD tomorrow about the valtrex. I only take omnicef so not sure they will adjust anything again. The have cut it in half once and told me to try and up the dose again which I have been doing for 7 weeks now.

I love to lay down when the house is silent. My kitten sleeps by my side and all is calm. That is the greatest meditai imaginable.

Timaca.
Thank you for that answer. I thought I was goin nuts that an anti viral could cause such a reation. I guess that was my first herx, bad one at least. Maybe something finally died off in this body of mine!

My dizziness has subsided a bit since treatment and I am able to get around more. Only now the new symptom is pain everywhere, but only when I take my meds.
