I can remember my LLMD checking these numbers in the beginning.. they were all kind of low.
I believe it means that the immune system is not functioning well if the numbers are low.
He had me supplement with something called IGG 2000 DF by Xmyogen for a while.. I'm not sure if it raised the numbers or not. We have not tested these classes since. I would be curious to know what the numbers look like now.
Someone else will probably be along shortly with a much more scientific explanation than what I provided.

I have low immune function tests. I don't have the results in front of me, but I believe my IgG subclasses are really low.
Some people who have low immune function tests benefit from IVIG.
I will likely be seeing an immunologist soon.

My sister had an LLMD appointment today and talked about bringing on board an immunologist and having the subset done. The doc thought she might benefit from IVIG.
The poor girl had no pulse on her feet and she will be seeing an oncologist for labs that aren't looking good. She will have another PICC put in this week.
I will be interested to learn more too as this is on my list of questions for my son's August 8th appointment with our Lyme doc.
There is an advocate in Florida on IVIG right now. I bet I could email her.

As I recall, there are 4 subsets. I was told that #1 and #3 can be infection related. Not sure about the others.
My immunologist is more concerned about the IGG number. I believe the magic number for needing IVIG is 500. That may vary with immunologists though.

Maybe you could call and ask. I think the total serum is ordered more often than the subclasses. They should be ordered together at some point. Of course it is Friday - but if recent enough and enough blood pulled and your doctor did not order all "GAME" and those with subclasses - perhaps if you ask - they can do an "add on" to the orders and get them tested. The G's and A's the most important. IGG and IGA totals and subclasses.

Re: IVIG - I would not jump in and have five days straight of 30 grams done. If you qualify for IVIG - ask to do the first infusion at perhaps only 10 grams. See how you do - and if ok - then increase over next infusions.
That is what I am doing. My IGG totals were averaging 500 before IVIG. Past months on 10g every three weeks have brought my levels up to 755.
There is a "deal" though if you have low/no IGA and possible troubles with receiving IVIG which is mostly IGG with trace amounts of IGA. IIRC you must then get the lowest IGA IVIG product. Or maybe cannot have IVIG at all. Research/ask about this to better understand. Certainly don't rely on my brain/info/recall.
