I know this sounds like a strange question, but there's a good reason why I'm asking it.

I get this brown stuff on my tongue (probably fungus instead of yeast), and when it gets thick enough I can actually "peel" it off little by little by pinching it between my fingernails. Gross, I know, but illness ain't pretty.

I just want to see if "regular" candida-based thrush will also "peel" off like that, or if it's only a peculiarity of fungus.

Thanks!! I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!!!

No matter if it's fungus or yeast you should get a handle on it. It's a reflection of what is going on internally in your body.

Try putting some grapefruit seed extract on your tooth brush with tooth paste and brushing it well, use a tongue scraper and then rinse really well and open several acidophilus capsules on your tongue and let the stuff linger. Keep doing it until it resolves.

If you are not addressing internal systematic yeast you probably should be.

Thanks for replying, but I'm already doing all the above mentioned stuff and more! [Smile]

I just wanted to see if candida thrush was manually removeable in the same manner. I would have thought that you couldn't remove candida by pulling on it, because I thought that candida attaches to the tissues more strongly.

I've had the brown tongue, and I could never peel off any sections of it. If I could have, I would have!!!

The only thing that fixes mine is Diflucan, and pretty quickly, at that.

I now get the fungal tongue overgrowth from Flagyl and Tindamax. Bummer, because I like those meds. May try pulsing.

None of this answered your question. I don't know if Candida peels or not.

Thanks, BoxerMom.

Actually, you did help answer my question. If your brown tongue didn't peel off... I wonder if mine is slightly different...

Too bad there's not much info about fungus on the tongue. I have wishful thinking that because mine peels off, maybe it won't be too difficult to get rid of.

Gross James. I scraped and scraped and still scrap. But I never tried to peel off this nasty stuff. It's nasty enough using the tools.

I've brushed my tongue with peroxide and then scraped. I've used many different items over the years. After years and years of tx and detoxing it now is something that comes and goes with the illness.

It's according to what my immune system is fighting. It's according to how everyhting in my GI track is going. The last 6 weeks my GI is happy happy happy.

I've been fighting an ears, nose and throat infection that also involves my one root canal tooth with bleeding around that tooth. I've been using one drop of tea tree oil on my toothbrush with toothpaste and focusing on that bothersome tooth.

Of course I'm also brushing my tongue with this, after reading an Amish ND recommendation and it has stirred the hornets nests. Interesting that the root canal tooth has healed and no longer bleeding for over a week but...

my right ear, sinus cavity, nose are not liking this tea tree stuff. Sorry about these bacteria(s) luck but I love to upset the apple cart.

My tongue seems to like the tea tree brushing. When you see a pink healthy looking tongue, you know something is going right. Just part of a never ending process with results.

Never simple!

Using strep and staph rife freqs to calm the ear, throat and sinus cavity every couple days. I've ticked off the whole right side of my face.

The tea tree oil is a good idea. Even though I've been using it sparingly on my tongue, I think I'll increase the frequency now. Thanks for the idea.

Pam, have you ever tried putting h2o2 drops in your ears for 15 minutes every day? That's a great cure for most ear-infection problems.

Also, it works very well if you put an h2o2 solution in a neti pot and cleanse your nasal passages with it. Have you ever used a neti pot? I think they're awesome.

Let me get this straight, James... you have brown stuff on top of your tongue, spikes coming out the bottom of your tongue, stinky feet, and you enjoy doing enemas.

I have a feeling I could pick you out of a crowd! [bonk]

James

Get a tongue scraper, brushing the tongue will not get it done. I use one that is metal in a U shape & it works well.

Pooldog - thanks for the advice! I took it immediately, and I just ordered the most-popular tongue scraper at Amazon. It was a metal one in a U shape, like you described, so I wonder if it's the same.

When I was brushing my tongue with a toothbrush, frequently I would injure my tongue nerves and my tongue would be numb for a couple of days. Maybe this will be more effective yet gentle at the same time.

Hopefully this will help me have a cleaner tongue. Then I will only have the stinky feet and the enemas against me. [Smile]

Smelly feet - Dr. Oz said on his show that people with extra smelly feet can actually soak their feet in green tea for a few minutes and the astringent aspect of the tea will help shrink the pores and reduce the sweating & stinking. Or he also suggested using deodorant on the bottom of the feet...I wouldn't use an anti-perspirant on the feet, though...feet are supposed to sweat, LOL!

I actually am soaking my feet in h2o2 (plus magnesium), and that is definitely curing the problem. Technically, I don't even have smelly feet any more. Hens is just giving me a hard time! [Smile]

I could not "peel" off the yellowish thrush I had, but I could scrape loads off with a tongue scraper. I used to take a lot of nystatin for the thrush that I got while taking flagyl and tindamax, but then the nystatin seemed to stop working.

I am on tindamax and cipro now, and I started taking 20 drops of Banderol twice daily. The Banderol seems to be more effective for me than nystatin.

Just went through a cancer scare (thankfully came back negative) but the ent I saw said that this is called "hairy tongue". I thought to myself, no this is called I have Chronic Lyme and am on long term abx.

Also thanks to having to do 6 biopsies on my throat we have now aggravated the damn little Lyme bugs in my mouth and throat and I have wonderful pus sacs to add to my hairy tongue.

To which the nurse practioner said oh just use some mouth wash, it will go away. Uh no, I think I will be calling my LLMD tomorrow but thanks!

The one thing that came out of all of this is that the biopsies showed that I had a ton of bacteria in stuff they sent off. Everyone else was so excited that there was no cancer (as am I!) that the bacteria was never mentioned. Glad I got the results. I will be sending those down to my LLMD as well... Wonder if THAT is what is causing the brown mucus "hairy tongue"?

First of all. James, you needed take this abuse by these ladies(?). [Big Grin]

Second thanks for the suggestion on H2o2 in ears. I'll try it. Neti pots, I've been thinking about Scott TheBetterHealthGuy and his article last month about staph infection troubles and what he has been doing to stop it.

Very interesting reading. I've made a copy to cover with my PCP about the staph culture test to see if we can get another answer to the big big picture puzzle.

Scott had gotten into neti pots and some everyday things to use. Neti pots here I come.

I'm glad you're trying the neti pots. Just don't forget to put a little h2o2 inside! I think that's a big trick.

Neti pots are awesome even for people who aren't battling illnesses. It's especially nice to have a clear nose when the weather is nice and we can be outside. Ain't nothin' like breathin' fresh air through a clean nose!!

Wow, the tongue scraper is amazing!!! I just got it today. On my first use, I scraped off a ton of stuff! I can almost make a carpet out of the stuff that came off! [Smile] Plus it was very gentle on the tongue. This is WAY better than brushing the tongue.

My tongue already started to return to a normal color. I can't imagine how healthy it might look in a week from now if I use that tool every day! I'm so happy about this.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations.

Now that I'm losing my black tongue, I'll need to find something else to attract the babes with. Maybe I'll learn how to play the piano or something.

Thank goodness, I can wipe out that visual of you peeling that nasty stuff off you tongue. [Eek!]

Yes I even had a visual of what you may look like and then the process. It wasn't good James.

Remember that tongue is connected to your upper GI and everything that follows it. So what are you doing to eliminate the nasty stuff in the pit?

I don't think that scraper is long enough? Oh no another visual. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's normal to develope an image of people we get to know behind the web. Isn't it?

James, I didn't have you all figured out. Just some of you like your nasty (I know), what the heck is this crap tongue.

No I didn't have a tall dark and handsome image. Sorry. I do think you have a great sense of humor though. How's that visual?

randi, I have pictured a Texas lady all the way.

I agree, too.

As for myself, for some reason I'm always picturing people to be in their 30's-40's, and at a healthy weight. In reality, (I would guess), most people are probably overweight, and probably a lot of people are in their 50's and above.

I wonder if people have a tendency to form images that are similar to themselves... for example, I'm in my 30's and not overweight. Is that why I picture most people to be the same?

I don't like to see photographs of my online-only friends, because then it confuses the pictures of them that I had in my mind. Plus most people don't actually look like their photographs, because I think you have to know their personality and facial expressions in order to extract the reality from a photograph.

ok, ya'll, here's the down and dirty.

about 5 feet tall, light brown hair that's going grey so it looks frosted. you have to actually lift my hair to see any grey really. got my grandmother's hair. grey eyes that often seem green (at least to my husband).

right now, yes, overweight, so about 190 and trying desperately to loose.

and the drawl, well, think of a smaller paula deen (and yes i cook just like her, that's the problem!!).

love ranching. our friends ranch is 13,000 yes i said 13,000 acres in wyoming and i spend a great deal of time there, especially during the calfing and branding seasons. love it.

so southern, conservative, baptist, to the core.

also sick to the core too.....

i bet if we ever had a conference, i'd be made as soon as i opened my mouth...

oh and james use grapefruit seed extract and mix as a mouthwash. it will help with any bacteria, etc., and don't use any mouthwash that had alcohol in it. which means listerine, etc. jason's has a mouthmouth that is pretty good but you have to go to a health store or central market or some such to find it. that might help too.

also there's a natural food soak where you use dry mustard powder and cayenne pepper, yep, the red stuff in the can. you mix them both in warm water and soak for about 10-15 minutes. suppose to pull out toxins and help healing.

Dang, I don't know what's wrong with you guys. I think it should be illegal for guys to wear tight jeans. Are all y'alls from the South? [Smile]

When a guy wears tight jeans, everyone can see his junk!

-Well, duh, James!!! --but It's the butt we look for!

PS.. please use correct grammar... Should be "Are y'all from the South?"

[lol] [lol]

i swear, some people, lyme tutu, are dumber than a stump huh? LOL.....

and james, anybody from below the mason dixon line is considered southern. although some states, like tennessee, did fight for both sides in the war.

if you have to ask which one hon, you're lost...

LOOOL! "correct grammer"? Thanks for the good laugh! You just boosted my T-cell function. [Smile]

Seriously though, there are some cultures up north here that use "all y'all".

That reminds me of my inner-city high school, where you could get in trouble for looking in the wrong direction:

"Allz y'allz better look away before I pop you in the face you ______!"

Ahhh, that brings back some sweet, sweet memories... (*wiping tear away from eyes*)

I'm still surprised to hear people in MO say "y'all" .. and I've heard it on TV from those in more northern states as well. It used to be ONLY in Texas. I guess that shows how much moving around we Americans do these days.

Oh yeah James...beware of Ms Tutu. She was a teacher and still has that teacher heart but also the ability to correct us at anytime.

Ssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh. Don't tell her I said that, okay?

There is nothing country about Louisville, KY. Now country is in the state especially further south into the Tenn area and eastern KY is know for the mountain and Appalachian hard working folks.

But James good guess on the 50-ish thing.

Pam
