My blood pressure is 88/52. I feel like I can feel my heart beating strangely. I feel weak and just want to lie down. I thought it would have been higher because I am anxious. Could this be a herx? Is a side effect from one of my meds ?

fflutterby, I hope others will answer and you have a good LLMD!!!

88 / 52 may be a serious problem to seek help immediately, I don't know

I am relatively new here and just wanted to say that I have similar symptoms, too, and I am not on any meds yet

hope that helps you some

but don't ignore a serious problem - check with your health care provider

can you call an advice nurse at your health care provider / insurance to help decide if you can sit this out alone or not?

for me, I think it is the Lyme: my blood pressure is always low 100/50 or 110/70 etc. and I have heart beats that sometimes race and sometimes do other funny stuff, I have anxiety attacks that are really uncomfortable (racing heart, feeling anxious, etc.)

Even my cardiologist doesn't get excited when my BP is that low. Go figure. It CAN be a problem... so get it checked out if it continues to stay that low.

When mine got into the 70's I panicked. After about two weeks being in the 80's and lower, it went back to my normal 90's and low 100's. Have no clue what made it go low.

I do take Verapamil though.. BP med I take for my heart.

Did a coffee enema and an epsom bath, had some salted water and it wet back up to 108/73. I am hoping this is just a herx. I doubled my doxy dosage on wednesday and have been feeling horrible ever since. I feel like I am vibrating.

That's about normal for me and none of my docs seem to alarmed. They just tell me to eat more salt. I am not being treated for LD yet either so mine is not a herx, just me.

My BP has been low during an extreme herx, and it seems like increased doxy was the culprit for you. Sounds like you've found a good solution.

Is your pulse high when your BP is low? It most likely is, causing the heart to pump faster.

I have tried, for a while, to increase Minocycline, and get similar effects; vibrating and heavy arms and legs.

Thanks ! My pulse was 72. I couldn't sleep all night. My heart felt like a drum inside my body. Did you push through the herx baileypup ? I doubled up 6 days ago, so I am hoping for some relief tonight. I had some strange dizziness at work and now just a bit of head pressure. BP is beautiful at 104/73 and my heart rate is 74.

fflutterby, I didn't push though the herx when my bp was low. I couldn't tolerate that treatment (Clindy/Quinine).

I'm still trying to work up to the minocycline dosage. My LLMD said to take 100 mg. three or four times a day, as opposed to 200mg. twice a day. Maybe you could try that with doxy, and see if it helps.

It's ridiculous to try and fit it all in....

Would you be able to reduce the antibiotic for a day or two and see if you feel better.
Your liver may be having trouble keeping up with all the toxins left by the dead Lyme bacteria.

What are you doing for liver support.

I tried that. My cardio's nurse said, "We never recommend adding salt to our patients' diets."

oops

Yeah, baileypup .. I am going to have to back off. My resting BP was just 112/70 heart rate 94. I am having palpitations and that thumping again. [Frown] ((( I hate this. I though after 6 days I would be able to tolerate it.

Carol in PA - I am not supposed to use milk thistle with rifampin, so I am doing cofee enema and epsom baths. i CAN TAKE THE PAIN BUT THIS HEART STUFF SCARES ME.

Tutu, maybe I need to get back to the cardiologist. They told me I was perfectly healthy last year when this happened with the zith and doxy. Had the stress test and all.

Low magnesium can cause cardiac irregularities.
Epsom salts have magnesium, so you should be absorbing it through your skin, but maybe you're still deficient.

If you slow down on the antibiotic, see if the palpitations improve.
The liver needs magnesium to make glutathione to detoxify the poisons left behind by the dead Lyme bacteria.

If you slow down on the antibiotic, the liver's load will be lighter...it won't need as much magnesium.
So there will be more for the rest of the body. [Smile]

Other things the liver uses to make glutathione:
Undenatured whey (amino acids)
Fish oil
CoEnzyme Q10
N-acetyl cysteine
Acetyl L-carnitine
Alpha lipoic acid

This list, plus magnesium, are what you need to detox.
Any more? This is what I can remember.
