my daughter keeps wanting to rotate between crying and yawning this afternoon. It all started
when we thought we were going to have to put our
dog down today. Dog came home but she can't get
out of this crying spell and then she keeps yawning.
Being treated for babs. She said she feels all
messed up. What the heck could cause this?

Definitely Babesia herxing! I was crying all the time and very depressed while treating babesia. Not sure about the yawning as that could be from just being tired, which most of us with lyme are!

she's not on any anti-depressant type meds, is she?
before diagnosed w/Lyme & co's, doctors keep pushing those on me (since they didn't know how else to help me), and believe me, I tried them (I'd try anything to to feel better!)
They didn't help but YAWNING was a MAJOR SIDE EFFECT!!! I'd yawn constantly, and if not yawning, i'd 'feel' the urge to. And, when yawning, I'd feel like I was blacking out. It's really hard to explain how I felt.. just very strange!
So many strange symptoms with this stupid illness that are hard to explain to anyone! It's hard enough going through them myself, I can't imagine watching any of my children suffer as I am. Praying for her/you!

Thank you. No she isnt on any anti-depressants. The sadness and yawning has calmed down.
There really are so many strange symtoms with this illness. It is so difficult watching her suffer like this. You would think after 3 years
I could come to terms with it but I still can't.

Yawning is air hunger. She is trying to get more oxygen. It is also made worse by stress.
I feel for her. Losing your dog is terrible. So Sorry.

neff-thanks for explaining yawning...i have never been able to get an answer---it happens to me intermittenly...but got long periods when it does

My daughter has had a terrible problem with yawning. When I first noticed it, it was before Lyme diagnosis. A doctor had put her on antidepressant, when I asked another doctor about it, He said it was probably a side effect of the antidepressant and told us to stop.
Symptoms lessened for a few months, then got much worse. This was along with sighing and taking deep breaths like she couldn't catch her breath. It has been labeled respiratory alkalosis.
At one point, it was so bad that I took her to ER. They said she was "hyperventilating."
Another doc ordered blood gas tests were way messed up.
A pulmonary specialist said her lungs were fine, but spirometry tests say "patient effort was not acceptable." My daughter simply didn't have the strength to breathe as hard as requested.
Around the same time, phlebotomists were having trouble inserting an IV or drawing blood. Blood seemed thick. I was really worried.
We began seeing our LLMD 6 mos ago. Since being on antibiotics and Buoloke, I have noted improvements: less sighing, little yawning, and better luck with drawing blood. I feel we are breaking down biofilm which causes all these symptoms.
