My Babs (I'm assuming that's what it is) has gotten really bad.

My LLMD is now questioning whether or not I have Brucella.

Here are my sx: Drenching sweats, chills, shaking, teeth chattering.

Is this still Babs, or something else?

I can't take abx because of remitting/relapsing c. diff.

I am, however, still taking Dapsone, and never stopped Malarone and Plaquenil, which, if they're helping, are only making small dents.

My poor dogs need to be walked. I should probably be eating and drinking, and I really don't want to!

It could also possibly be brucellosis.

I took notes from a Dr. H. talk on babesiosis a few years back, and this is what he said near the end of the talk:

Brucellosis also causes night sweats, so check for this in a patient with night sweats.

Stephen Buhner has a coinfections book titled, Anaplasma, Babesia and Ehrlichia if you decide to go the herbal route.

Could it be the dap with the malerone ? Have you checked your g6pd? Do you have a sulfa allergy?

Hi all,

First of all, is there a way I can see the answers while I respond?

I had not thought of a sulfa allergy, but I stopped the Dapsone anyway, seeing as it could contribute to c. diff., which I am urgently trying to arrest with probiotics.

I will check the links for Brucella. Does Brucella also flare every 10 days the way Babesia does?

I am trying the herbal route, but it is going to be very slow.

Has anyone had success with A-Babs? I don't know how to get it.

Thanks!!!!!

Blue Lyme, could you elaborate on what you mean by "Dapsone with Malarone?"

What do you mean "a way I can see the answers while I respond"? You mean, while you are typing a post you see something?

If you want to see the responses to all of your posts, go to "My profile" above, click "View My Recent Posts", and go down the list to see who has written back to you.

Babesiosis has a 4-7 day flare cycle depending on which doctor you talk to. My lyme doc said it has a 7 day cycle and a 14 day cycle. I experienced both. When I started treating babs, I had a clear 7 day cycle. My babs flared every Friday evening. It stopped every Sunday evening like clockwork. It was a horrendous 48 hours every weekend until I reported it and my doc added artemesinin. Then, the flare went down to nothing.

Eventually, the flares switched to the 14 day cycle, so I had them (very mild) every other weekend.

I don't know of any disease that flares every 10 days.

TF, I was trying to figure out if there was a way I could scroll up and down while I responded to the answers on my posts, so I could mention specific answers.

I don't know if 10 is completely correct, but it's approximately 10.

Do you know of any other infections that flare cyclically like Babs?

Lyme flares every 28 days. Bart doesn't flare that I know of. We already went over babs flares. That's about it.

But if you have both lyme and babs and are treating both simultaneously, and then if you herx due to medication changes, you could have a difficult time observing flares because 3 things are happening at once.

I had lyme flares when I treated lyme and babs flares when I treated babs. I treated basically one disease at a time. So, it was easy for me to see the pattern of flares of each.

Babs was the last disease I treated, so all I had going on were the babs flares. They were unbelievable and just like clockwork.

I don't know enough about brucellosis to speak to the flares it may cause. Do some research and let us know what you find.

Hi TF,

I'm having distinct flares that involve sweats and chills, and I'm now thinking that it's a babs/bart combo. Still don't know about the Brucella. My LLMD says she thinks part of it could be Brucella bc of inappetance. Bart apparently does flare, and a BART/BABS flare is the worst!! I've noticed that many of flares start on Thursdays, but recently they've moved to starting on Sundays or Mondays.

So, my LLMD agrees with me that we can try A BABS and A BIO, along with a chinese herb for Brucella. We haven't started working on the Bart yet. Thanks!
