Were you diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder or hospitalized? Or is this just a precautionary measure from your Lyme Doc? If it doesn't say on script, I would call your doctor and find out for sure.
It would be important to keep a schedule, same time/hour each day to give yourself the shot.
Also, will you be getting blood testing done to make sure that your level is therapeutic?
I was just in the hospital last week with a Pulminary Embolism and went through all the heparin, lovenox and coumadin startups while in for 6 days.
The standard dosing for injection for my weight was way too high and they had to drop the dose considerably. They checked my blood 6 hours after injection for a level. Overly thinned blood is just as bad as under thinned blood.
My Lovenox shots were 12 hours apart, 2x a day to make sure my blood level stayed within a safe zone. Other people need one shot 1x a day. It's all dependent on your body size and how well your body ismetabolizing the drug and your blood levels after taking the drug.
Not sure about heparin, thought that was an I.V. drug. But if it's Heparin, I imagine sticking to a strick schedule is still important.

Just for you information, heparin can cause osteoporosis, even in young people, so be careful.

Thank you for the info. Edessajarrue, my LLMD did a Fibrinolysis Comprehensive Panel, D-Dimer, Euglobulin Clot. It was through Quest Diagnostics. Thank you everyone.
