Hi All,
I'm supposed to go for a TTT, but I need to take meds to stress my body like I need a hole in the head.
Is it possible to do / is there any point in doing a TTT without isoproterenol or any other meds?
Best,

Be sure NOT to take any BP meds for several days before the test. Ask your doctor.

So, hey, Tu -- are you saying I shouldn't bother if I'm not willing to let them simulate my system with drugs?

Are you having it done to diagnose POTS? If so, my Cardiologist tested my norepinephrine levels lying down, then standing to diagnose that...so maybe that's an alternative?

- Yes, because otherwise all they are doing is having you lie prone, then lifting you up periodically. Too easy to pass the test then.
It's possible to fail the test without it... they will try that first.

Thanks, Guys.
Yes, it's to diagnose POTS. I think I'm going to forgo the test; my body goes through h*ll multiple times / week, and I'm not interested in pushing the river...
Thanks for sharing your diagnostic experience LAX; I'll see whether there is an alternative.

I don't remember any lasting effects from the drug. It's by IV and once they stop it, you're OK.
I could be lying though!

LAX: How did the cardio check your adrenaline levels? By blood lying down, then by blood standing? Do you know the name of that procedure?

It was a blood test. He ordered it on a normal lab slip.
He wrote "plasma norepinephrine levels, supine and standing" (or something like that)
The lab had me lie down for 30 minutes, then drew blood. I stood upright for 10 minutes and they drew again.
This showed that my norepinephrine nearly tripled upon standing.

I saw a well respected researcher, top name Dr for POTS- he measured my vitals on a tilt table-no drugs, no blood draws.
I was diagnosed with POTS after my BP and heart rate changed.
