So i was doing pretty well off ABX for approx. 3 years. I contracted HSV2 last year and the outbreaks have been very long but intermittent. I currently have an outbreak that has been lasting over 2 months (7-14 days is the avg).
I've concluded it has something to do with my bart or babs hindering my immune response (lyme proper with its joint and pain complications was never an issue for me). I started herbs (samento) and heavy dosing of vitamin c for the babs/bart and landed myself in the hospital with what seemed to be delayed herx (anxiety rush, confusion, brain fog extreme - which i thought my be viral encephalitis but i'd be dead by now if that was the case) I also had an ear infection that never completely resolved while the HSV was active.
My thoughts on why my immune system is out to lunch...
Bart or babs is inhibiting my immune system - started treating with mepron, zith and rifampin for the first time in 3 years.... we'll seee.
Vitamin D - i do maintain that there is a connection between vitamin d being either palliative, immunoboosting or immunosuppressant. while i dont want to mess with it... i'm sure my ratio of D-25 to D1-25 is off. I did spend a ton of time over the summer in the sun.. and perhaps things are more so out of whack.
I had one doctor test me for HIV since thats what is usually the case when people have outbreaks lasting this long. Negative for HIV.
I appreciate any and all feed back... and wish all of you comfort in your healing process.

Not to be obvious, but are you on a constant strong dose of Valtrex or Famvir? I don't have this infection, but know some with it
need a constant anti- viral- or, they go into 'viral protocols' high dose vitamin A, Virastop, OLE-
I would get vitamin D checked, and bring up if necessary- maybe add transfer factor, etc.
Catching this hit your immune system hard- sorry--
