Can you put an asterisk next to the ones that are outside of the normal range?

This way, we can just look at those.

(It looks like almost every one of your results is normal.)

And, a space between each test result will help with looking at the list.

Your CD-57 is at the bottom of the normal range, but still "normal" according to the lab.

The only test on here I see that's outside the normal range is the liver enzyme test ALT, and it is only slightly elevated. If you don't have gallbladder symptoms, you may need milk thistle and/or liver detoxing to clear this up.

Abs cd8-cd57 lymph 60 -- This is your CD57 count -- Most likely indicates lyme. CD57 is a special subset of natural killer cells. Low number indicates your immune system is suppressed.

Eos 7% -- High numbers usually indicate parasites. Could be babesia, but in my opinion more likely to be G.I. parasites.

Bilirubin .9 -- High normal -- May be elevated with babesia.

ALT 38 -- One of your liver enzymes. Could also be elevated by babesia or almost any of the tickborne infections. Probably need to add milk thistle or other liver support herbs if not taking anything.

Hey Bea,
I had all sorts of parasite test done. It all came back negative. Do you think that rules it out? I will ask my Dr.
Thank you so much for any help.

Also If my babesia came back as 1.256 does this confirm infection?
I just had my 4 year old daughter tested for this and it was the same as me. 1.256 wa-1

I am on Mepron - i think this is what is elevating my liver count.
I will look into the liver detox.

Most parasite tests will not find parasites. (sadly) They only look for the eggs if you can believe THAT! [Eek!]

They also take only a tiny bit to put on their microscope slide. The parasites will not likely show up that way.

There are specialty labs out there that will do more in depth parasite testing.

I hope Bea comes back to answer your question on the babesia. I'm pretty sure that would show a positive. Because most coinfection testing comes back negative, anything even remotely close to a positive should be taken very seriously.

You are probably referring to a score (titer) of 1:256

That is the lowest score deemed positive for certain labs. Other labs require a score of 1:320.

I found this information in the following study:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2976100/

See this quote from the study: "Similar to our approach, all investigators defined WA1 IgG detection as a serum titer of either ≥1:256 or ≥1:320."

So, you have to look at what your lab report says is a normal score.

Emmys,

It is my understanding that as a result of the journal article that has been linked that the lab was investigated by the CDC and increased the titer that they reported as a positive test. The government was not happy that so many people outside of California and Washington state were testing positive for babesia duncani (WA-1).

My personal opinion is that there is probably some cross reaction to different species of babesia and that there are multiple strains that can infect people that there are very few tests for.

But with a titer of 1:256 regardless of whether the lab or CDC thinks you have babesia I would say that you do and should be treated. This is my personal opinion and not medical advice.

Thank you for your reply. I am being treated. My nk was at 12 when first infected.

I am concerned about my four year old daughter who also tested at 1.256 for wa-1.
She never had the "bite" but has a stye for months lumps on her neck like me at the same time I was infected. She never got sick like me. I am scared that she too has lymes or possibly my whole family for all we know.

I am going tontake her to an infectious doctor for further testing.

Even the best parasite tests are flawed for many reasons. The eggs only show up a couple of days out of the month anyway (do the math), so the odds are definitely not in the patient's favor.

You need a lyme literate doc (LLMD), which the id docs are not (they think they are, but not). Go to www.lymediseaseassociaton.org to find one. They will email you some names.
