The current director of the CDC, Tom Frieden is trained at Yale with a sub specialty in infectious disease. I wondered if he had any pharmaceutical (big pharma) ties which is why I looked him up. Worse - he is connected to Yale Infectious Disease (trained there). Therefore he would make a perfect candidate to continue "there is no such thing as chronic lyme disease" stance as that is the stance of Yale Infectious Disease.
Taken from Wikipedia: Frieden graduated from Oberlin College (BA, 1982), Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (MD, 1986) and Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health (MPH, 1985). He completed training in internal medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center and sub-specialty training in infectious diseases at Yale University.
If anyone knows the history of lyme disease in the US (watch Under Our Skin, read Pam Weintrub's Cure Unknown) you know that Yale infectious disease department is to be blame for much of the bad information out there with regards to lyme.
Recently, their Eugene Shapiro talked about 50% of their pediatric Lyme patients seeking treatment after visiting the Yale Infectious Disease Doctors and that a huge percentage were dissatisfied with their care. They do not blame themselves for this - but the parents who seek further treatment for their child's ongoing symptoms calling them MUS - multiple unexplained symptoms.

Not surprising he was trained to take such unscientific stances. The litany of horrors for the Lyme community seems like it will never end. I don't think 5O% of Dr. J's (CT) patients are seeking other treatment!! That shows you he knows more about Lyme than the entire Yale University.
