Hey friends, my doctor prescribed Ceftin for me.
I took it for a couple weeks before I ran a drug interaction check. Unfortunately, results were not good!
Found out that my Famotidine (Pepcid) was lowering my stomach acid which greatly reduced the absorption of Ceftin!
So, if you take anything that lowers stomach acid, beware that your Ceftin levels will be ineffective.
It is recommended that you switch to another Cephalosporin.
Just wanted to share

- Good detail to know, Sammy. Along those lines,
While Famotidine (Pepcid) does not seem to be a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) - a basic search did not connect those dots for me, however,
for those dealing with Rx of a similar kind to reduce stomach acie, it's important to know that PPIs [and maybe some other drugs that have not yet been considered]
C difficile - prevention -

It was from the Drugs.com "Interaction" search engine.
Also, Pepcid, aka "famotidine" is an H2 blocker. I take it twice daily to reduce histamine. Unfortunately, its main prescribed use is to reduce stomach acid.
