For any mineral to be taken up and utilized/absorbed by our body, it needs to be in ionic or organic form.
Since many of you are not familiar with electrolytes and the importance of a perfectly flowing electrical current in our body, here a few words from my doctor's office:
Water alone cannot conduct the electrical current we need to live. Electrolytes are mineral compounds that are dissolved in the extracellular and intracellular fluid in our bodies. These solutes then become charged particles known as ions. These are split into two categories. The positive charged ions known as catons: Sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium; the negative charged ions or anions: chloride bicarbonate and phosphate.
These ions dissolved in body fluids create an electrical charge (similar to a battery) which is needed for the body to function. Electrolytes are a vital part of our body fluids which help maintain: homeostasis (interrelated processes that maintain equilibrium inside and outside of our cells), a pH (acid/base) balance, the proper volume of blood for efficient circulation, and stable blood pressure.
They facilitate the transport of nutrients, amino acids, lipids, hormones, proteins and other molecules into cells. (Remember from above, the locked up cells by Natrium chloride - our common table salt). This solution also regulates body temperature, aids in the detoxification of metabolic waste products, provides lubrication to the musculoskeletal joints and acts as a component in the pericardial, pleural, spinal, and peritoneal fluids.
No l i f e without electrolytes and no d e t o x of any kind without electrolytes - I learned this very quickly a few years ago.

It appears though that it is not available yet at that site either. The book they are talking about is entitled "Water and Salt" and is most interesting. I have it, but it is only available in German at this time. I listened to a lecture of the author several hours long and he promised to translate it into English. The price for the salt on that Wisconsin site is quite high. We pay about $22.00 for a Kilogram
(approx. 2 lbs) plus of course shipping.
But on the other hand, the salt is practically hand-mined, and in today's economy that is just not cost effective.
I want to add that not all Crystal salts are
equal. I will say though, I will pay for that salt as long as I can manage. I am sure it has helped us tremendously and I do never want to go without it again. At a party the other day, I ate some chips with the Morton's regular 79 cent salt, my tongue started to burn after the second chip!!!!! The stuff is toxic, depletes our most precious cell water, -------- ever wondered why we look more wrinkly the older we get???????? The salt we eat literally dries us up like a prune.
The Real Salt from a Utah mine is available in some co-ops for $3 to 4 a pound.
I forgot to mention, if any of you seem to be unable to tolerate (allergic) to any of the minerals , just saying "I don't tolerate this or that" is not going to solve your problem. That's most likely one of the reasons you became you can't seem to get much better in the first place.
There are many doctors/practitioners today that do desensitizing in a jiffy - compared to the way it was done years ago by scratching the arm etc. for weeks on end.
Please look into this if you know you have an intolerance to a mineral or for that matter any other substance or food. I was allergic to phosphorus at one time and therefore my body was not absorbing it. It destroyed a good part of my mineral picture. It was an "emotional" allergy, left over from the phosphorus bombs I saw exploding around me when I was a young girl. I was treated for it (that took not more than five minutes with ART energy testing) and I have never had a problem with it since. So please don't ignore this - there is definitely a way today to alleviate allergies in a hurry.

I believe this is why my hormones that I am taking can't seem to get the right balance.

I've been eating crystal sea salt for a long time and was/maybe still am deficient in iodine (which is added to table salt).
I don't know if this is a common deficiency or not, but thought I'd warn some about it...I was vegetarian then vegan for years and had practically no sources of iodine in my diet. Meat eaters probably won't have this problem.
I believe the best sources of iodine are fish, seaweeds, and microalgaes, and I think red meat. So, I've been eating lots more seaweeds, especially kelp and dulse.
just remember if you switch to sea salts, be sure to get iodine elsewhere as it's important esp for proper thyroid functioning.
Sea Salt (Celtic or otherwise) as you purchase it today in most healthfood stores or even the grocery store is not the same as the Real Salt that comes from deep within the Utah mountains deposited there millions of years ago. The Real Salt and the Hunza Salt from the Himalajas contains about 70 to 80 minerals; these salts are not out of today's oceans which are contaminated.
Also various agents are used for the sea salt drying processes, etc., which you don't necessarily want to take up into your body.
Go to the Real Salt website and read up.
I have posted numerous comments about salts; also why the normal Morton salts, etc. that you buy in the grocery store are not beneficial to human beings -- it's more or less fit for getting the ice to melt on your sidewalk - but not much else.
Go to mercola.com - he has a couple of great articles on his website - hope they are still on there. I may also have posted them here already a couple of years ago.
Knowing salt and all the great things you can do with it is helpful!
By the way, there is no specific recipe for making this saline. You take a pound of Real Salt or Hunza Salt, put it in a quart jar; fill it up with the best water you can find; let it sit and dissolve. It will not dissolve all, of course, once the water is saturated. Use a teaspoon of it in your water, or whatever tastes good, and keep filling the jar once in a while. More of the remaining salt in the bottom will dissolve. A pound for us will last many months before it is finally all dissolved.
I have given more specifics before here on the board, but don't have the time right now.

Low salt = magnesium sparing effect. This is why those with high blood pressure have been advised to watch salt intake. It may not be so much a high salt, but a low Mg level that is the underlying problem.
When Mg is low, Ca goes into the cells. Do you see now why blocking calcium is used to treat many health problems (primarily heart problems)...calcium channel blockers?
Iodine...get a small bottle...cheap... and CAREFULLY (stains) put a silver dollar sized amt. on your tummy (it comes with an applicator). If you absorb it quickly - in a couple of hours the stains vanish, then you needed it. If it stays...your supply is okay. This trick was told to be by an accupuncturist into alternative med.
Re: phosphorous. Valletta used Mg pyrophosphate and sublingual B6 (to carry the Mg into the cells) to cure RA, ulcerative colitis and cancer in 6 months.

Vitamin B1 or thiamine, combines with phosphorus to form thiamin pyrophosphate necessary for the metabolism of protein, carbohydrate, and fat. It is essential for growth, normal appetite, digestion, and healthy nerves. Vitamin B1 may prevent, correct or help aging and memory loss.
Magnesium is necessary for the conversion of thiamine to its biologically active form, thiamine pyrophosphate.
Some cell types have H+ pumps which are driven by pyrophosphate.
Magnesium ions are required for pyrophosphate release. In fact, none of the partial reactions specified in Fig. 1 can be observed in the absence of magnesium ions.

The vitamins and minerals ALL WORK TOGETHER. If one or more are low, it impacts all the others...too much, unable to be utilized, etc. Balance is thrown off.
Trace Lyte is a homeopathic solution of many "healthy" trace metals (does not include Mg or Ca - they are not TRACE metals).
Just another possiblity.

My family has been "trained" to eat a low salt diet. Since we all have low blood pressure here, we've been taking many small doses of mg daily for months now adding the salt may be the next step in getting our bodies to function better.
This is a good thing.
